Hello 💛

I created SupportMap because I was tired of how hard it can be to find the right support for autistic people, ADHDers, neurodivergent individuals, and their families.

Too often, people are left searching through endless websites, asking around, and hoping they have found someone who truly understands neurodivergence and works in a respectful, neuro-affirming way. I also know how difficult this can be for professionals who are trying to connect clients with the right support.

SupportMap was created to make that process a little easier.

It is a growing directory of practitioners, organisations, and support services that work with neurodivergent people and families. My hope is that it becomes a trusted place where people can find support without feeling overwhelmed, misunderstood, or alone.

If you are a practitioner or service offering neuro-affirming support, I would genuinely love for you to register.

Your listing may help someone find exactly the support they have been looking for.

Please also share SupportMap with other practitioners, services, schools, community groups, and families. The more people who know about it, and the more services that join, the more helpful it can become.

You can register here:

https://support-map.mindbodyconnect.health/

Thank you for helping build a more connected and supportive community for neurodivergent people and those who care for them.

Find trusted health and support services across New Zealand and Australia.

When we look after ourselves and our needs, we are better versions of ourselves. And when we share the better versions of ourselves with others, they benefit too 💛 It's a win-win!

Yesterday, in an online Open Floor dance class, I became curious about what happens in my body when I know I am being seen.

Even through a screen, there was a sense of witness. Other people were moving in their own spaces, and I was moving in mine, but part of me was aware that I was visible.

So I started to play with three different ways of being.

There was the part that wanted to present well. To move in a way that looked expressive, interesting, confident, or “good enough.”

There was the part that wanted to pull back. To soften my presence, reduce my movement, take up less space, and stay less noticeable.

And then there was another place altogether.
A quieter, more grounded place.
Not trying to impress.
Not trying to disappear.
Just inhabiting my own, earthy body.

In psychology, we might understand this through nervous system regulation and authenticity. When we feel safe enough, we can stay within our window of tolerance. We do not need to over-adapt, please, prove, hide, or protect ourselves as much.

Performance and shrinking can both be protective strategies. They often develop for good reasons.

But both can be exhausting.

The middle space felt different.
It felt like presence without effort.
Visibility without self-monitoring.
Expression without performance or shrinking.
Rest without shame.

With very little effort required.

Healing is about finding that "sweet spot" where we no longer need to become more or less than who we really are, showing up authentically and how we honestly feel in the given moment. Regardless of who is watching - or not.

A sunset doesn't need to be more or less. It doesn't need an audience and doesn't change if it has an audience or not. It just simply is beautiful and perfect. Like a flower. Like a tree. Like a rainbow. Like us - on and of the earth.

Are you a 60+ late diagnosed neurodivergent?

Some of my clients are. They find that being 'late LATE' diagnosed ADHD/autistic is a really different experience for them than for younger folks. They let me know that there were no events or groups for them SO...
..we're putting a call out for late diagnosed folks about sixty years old and older, to gather online, share stories if they want to, share resources and strategies. And explore whether they might meet regularly, and if so, for what purpose.

My job is to help bring folks together, facilitate and to support. The group can oust me at any time!

June 1st at 7.30pm NZT (This is MONDAY, there is a typo in the promotion post - apologies)

If you would like to RSVP, get in touch. You can email or DM and I will send out an invite and meeting link.
I know time zones are going to be tricky, but all are welcome.

We exist in relational bubbles... ⚪

In psychology, we might call this the "relational field": the emotional space created between two people. Both people bring their nervous systems, attachment histories, needs, fears, coping patterns, and ways of relating into that space.

In healthy relationships, this space is flexible. Sometimes one person needs more support. Sometimes the other does. There is room for both people to feel, speak, need, repair, and be understood.

But sometimes the relational field becomes uneven.

One person’s emotions begin to take up most of the space. Their distress, anger, anxiety, or needs become the organising force in the relationship. The other person may learn to shrink, soothe, monitor, hold, stay quiet, over-function, or put their own emotions aside to keep things stable.

This can look like patience.
It can look like love.
It can look like being “the calm one.”

But over time, it can become emotional self-abandonment.

A healthy relationship does not require one person to disappear so the other can be held.

There should be room for two nervous systems, two perspectives, two sets of needs, two sets of boundaries, and two emotional realities.

Take some time to reflect on your "relational bubbles" and adjust the dynamics within the field to create room for you both ♡
