“Doc, wala naman po akong diabetes dati. Pwede pa rin po ba akong magkaroon ng gestational diabetes?” 🤰

Yes, Mommy. Kahit sino pwedeng magkaroon nito habang buntis.

Ang Gestational Diabetes Mellitus (GDM) ay pagtaas ng blood sugar na unang nade-detect during pregnancy. Dahil sa pregnancy hormones, minsan nahihirapan ang katawan gamitin nang maayos ang insulin kaya tumataas ang sugar.

Ang tricky part? Madalas walang sintomas. Kaya kahit feeling okay ka, possible pa rin na mataas ang blood sugar.

🩸 Kaya importante ang regular prenatal check-up at tamang screening gaya ng blood sugar test o OGTT, kapag recommended ng inyong OB-GYN.

Kapag hindi controlled ang GDM, maaaring tumaas ang risk ng:
• sobrang paglaki ng baby
• difficult delivery
• high blood pressure or preeclampsia
• low blood sugar ng baby after birth

Pero good news, Mommy! 💗
Kayang-kayang i-manage ang GDM with proper diet, exercise, blood sugar monitoring, at gamot or insulin kung kinakailangan.

✨ Hindi lahat ng buntis na may GDM ay may sintomas—kaya huwag i-skip ang screening.

Regular check-up today can help protect Mommy and Baby. 🤰👶

Ang “due date” o Estimated Date of Delivery (EDD) ay ang petsang tinatayang aabot si baby sa 40 weeks ng pagbubuntis.

Pero tandaan: estimate lang ang due date, hindi appointment ni baby. 😄 Puwedeng manganak nang mas maaga o mas late nang kaunti.

Quick guide:
37–38 weeks: early term
39–40 weeks: full term
41 weeks: late term
42 weeks pataas: post-term

So kapag sinabing “due date na today,” ibig sabihin nasa around 40 weeks pregnant na si Mommy. 👶💙

Due date = 40 weeks. Pero si baby pa rin ang may final say kung kailan siya lalabas! 😄

Being doctors comes with a responsibility that goes far beyond what people see. There are days when we have to look presentable, smile, and reassure our patients that everything will be okay—even when, deep inside, we’re carrying our own worries, exhaustion, and frustrations.

There are cases we manage with all our heart but don’t always turn out the way we hope. There are moments when we badly want to do more, but resources are limited. And sometimes, we quietly question ourselves if what we’re doing is enough.
Then, in the middle of all that, a patient gives us something like this. 🤍

These beautiful pieces reminded us that God has His own way of comforting us and reminding us why we chose this calling. Sometimes, His encouragement comes through the people we are blessed to care for.
