Dance and movement work with the body first and let the mind catch up. Any movement counts and contributes to the connection between your mind and body that can change how you get through a moment of stress, the presence you can give yourself through difficult memories, the flexibility you have to tackle challenges, and most importantly, the space you can gift yourself to hold gratitude and joy.

Places of work come alive through rhythms that are expected to hold the people in it to several things all at once: serve others, learn new skills, protect resources, solve problems... just to name a few.

It's inevitable that people will need a break.
How can we respond?

In workplaces, we have an opportunity to help create new rhythms. Rhythms that remind us of the human we are (and the one we sit next to), the emotions that need a space to exist, the expression that brings us to new perspectives and insights, the body we carry that needs attention to return to the rhythm of work.

Burnout doesn’t announce itself. It steps in quietly for people, in a way that their efforts can still be loud enough to make them overlook it, or dismiss it as a bad day that’s passed.

When energy has shifted in the workplace, it might be time for a mental health check-in for your team.

Our July Taster Workshop, Indayog: Music for Care and Connection, was full of insights and aha moments 🌀 Which do you resonate with the most?

🌾 “Music has always been part of how we make sense of the world... We use it to shift our energy, accompany transitions, hold memories, express what words cannot, and connect with one another in ways that often feel immediate and deeply human.” – Thea Tolentino, Music Therapist

🌾 When we repeatedly pair meaningful words with rhythm, melody, and repetition, they become easier to remember and easier to retrieve.

🌾 Music provides another way of rehearsing the thoughts we hope to carry with us.

🌾 Music is a language that doesn’t ask about your past or who you are. but it does ask you about your openness to express yourself through it. As you make sounds with what you have, you’ll recognize that you’re talking music already, and those who resonate will resonate.

🌾 A sound, no matter how small, is part of a bigger soundscape. There is a place for all sounds we can make; we just have to find that space and time to jump into the music and find our rhythm.

This past weekend, alongside all of you, we too learned something new about music: it’s a conversation that will always have something new to say.

Music and sound don’t mind where you’ve come from or what you carry, it only cares that it connects with whatever is still formless and soundless inside of you.

Making and experiencing music will remind you that you are always looking for a pulse that reminds you you are alive. That there is more to understand, beyond what you think you know. Making and experiencing music will remind you that you can be part of something.

Don’t miss our next workshops, and the application period for Batch 4 of the certificate program for expressive arts facilitation.
