πŸ’™ Celebrating 14 Years of Pandi Physical Therapy Center

Today, Pandi Physical Therapy Center (PPTC) celebrates its 14th Anniversaryβ€”14 years of healing, growth, service, and gratitude.

Our journey began in 2012 with one small clinic and a team of only three peopleβ€”two Physical Therapists and one Rehabilitation Medicine Doctor. We started with a simple purpose: to provide accessible, compassionate, and quality rehabilitation services to our community.

Fourteen years later, that small beginning has grown into two PPTC branches in Pandi and Sta. Maria, Bulacan, supported by a team of 13 dedicated people working together to help our patients regain movement, independence, confidence, and quality of life.

But our story is not measured only by the number of branches we have opened or the size of our team. It is measured by the patients who trusted us, the families who became part of our journey, the doctors and healthcare professionals who worked alongside us, the interns we helped train, and every person who walked through our doors hoping to get better.

There were challenges along the way, but every challenge helped shape PPTC into what it is today. Every milestone reminds us of where we startedβ€”and why we continue.

To our doctors, physical therapists, staff, past and present team members, patients, families, partners, and friends, thank you for being part of these 14 years. Your trust and support have allowed a small clinic with three people to grow into the PPTC family we have today.

As we begin another year, our commitment remains the same: to serve with compassion, professionalism, and dedication and to help every patient reach their fullest possible potential.

Happy 14th Anniversary, Pandi Physical Therapy Center! πŸŽ‰πŸ’™

WORK-RELATED PAIN IN TEACHERS
Because taking care of yourself is part of taking care of your students. πŸ’™

Teaching is physically demanding. Long hours of standing, sitting, writing on boards, checking papers, using computers, carrying books and materials, and repetitive movements can contribute to muscle and joint discomfort.

Teachers commonly experience:

β€’ 🧠 Neck pain – prolonged computer use, looking down, poor posture
β€’ πŸ’ͺ Shoulder pain – writing on boards, reaching, lifting and carrying
β€’ πŸ”™ Upper back pain – prolonged sitting, computer work and muscle tension
β€’ πŸͺ‘ Low back pain – prolonged sitting or standing, lifting and poor ergonomics
β€’ βœ‹ Wrist & hand pain – writing, typing, grading and repetitive hand movements
β€’ 🦡 Knee & leg pain – prolonged standing, walking, stairs and frequent squatting

πŸ’‘ HELP PROTECT YOUR BODY:
Maintain good posture, take regular movement breaks, stretch throughout the day, strengthen your core and postural muscles, stay hydrated, use proper lifting techniques, and wear comfortable supportive footwear.

πŸ’™ PHYSICAL THERAPY CAN HELP by assessing possible causes of your symptoms and providing an individualized program to reduce pain, improve mobility and flexibility, address posture and movement patterns, build strength, and help prevent recurrence.

Teachers spend their days helping others grow. Your health deserves attention, too. 🌱

🦷 WHEN YOUR BITE SHIFTS, YOUR BODY MAY COMPENSATE

Did you know that your jaw, neck, and posture work together as part of a connected movement system?

Changes in jaw position or temporomandibular joint (TMJ) function can sometimes occur alongside changes in head and neck posture, muscle tension, and movement patterns. However, jaw or bite alignment is only one possible contributing factor, and posture problems can have many different causes.
You may notice symptoms such as jaw pain or clicking, headaches, neck and shoulder tension, back discomfort, or a feeling of imbalance.

πŸ’™ HOW CAN PHYSICAL THERAPY HELP?
A physical therapist can assess your posture, neck and jaw-related movement, muscle strength and flexibility, balance, and overall movement patterns. Treatment may include therapeutic exercises, mobility work, manual therapy when appropriate, postural training, and functional exercises.

For significant bite or dental concerns, assessment by a dentist or appropriate dental/TMJ specialist may also be needed.

A collaborative approach can help determine what is actually contributing to your symptoms.

✨ Treat the person, not just the painful area.

FROZEN SHOULDER: WHEN PAIN & STIFFNESS LIMIT YOUR MOVEMENT

Having trouble raising your arm, reaching behind your back, getting dressed, or sleeping because of shoulder pain? These may be signs of Frozen Shoulder (Adhesive Capsulitis).

Frozen shoulder occurs when the capsule surrounding the shoulder joint becomes thickened and tight, resulting in progressive pain and restriction of movement.

Common signs include shoulder and night pain, increasing stiffness, difficulty raising the arm or reaching behind the back, limited external rotation, and restriction of both active and passive shoulder movement.

Certain factors may increase the risk, including diabetes, age 40–60, prolonged shoulder immobilization, previous shoulder injury or surgery, thyroid conditions, and reduced arm movement following stroke. Sometimes, however, there is no obvious cause.

πŸ’™ PHYSICAL THERAPY CAN HELP. Depending on the stage and severity of the condition, rehabilitation may include pain management, appropriate mobility and stretching exercises, progressive strengthening, manual therapy, functional training, and a personalized home exercise program.

⚠️ Don't force a painful, stiff shoulder. Treatment should be appropriate to the stage of frozen shoulder and individualized after assessment.

Early assessment and proper rehabilitation can help reduce pain, improve movement, and restore shoulder function.

🧠 WHEN NECK NERVES CAUSE SHOULDER PAIN

Your shoulder pain may actually be coming from your neck.
Pain around the shoulder or upper arm is not always caused by a problem in the shoulder itself. Irritation or compression of the cervical nervesβ€”particularly around the C5–C6 regionβ€”can produce pain and other symptoms that travel toward the shoulder and upper arm.

You may experience:
πŸ”Ή Neck pain or stiffness
πŸ”Ή Pain around the shoulder or deltoid area
πŸ”Ή Pain radiating down the upper arm
πŸ”Ή Tingling or numbness
πŸ”Ή Arm or shoulder weakness
πŸ”Ή Symptoms that change with neck movement

πŸ’‘ Why does this happen?
Nerves originating from the cervical spine contribute to the nerve supply of the shoulder and upper extremity. When a nerve root becomes irritated, symptoms may be felt away from the neck, making it seem like the shoulder itself is the main problem.

⚠️ Shoulder pain has many possible causes. A proper assessment is important to determine whether symptoms are coming from the cervical spine, the shoulder joint and surrounding tissues, or a combination of both.

πŸ’™ How Physical Therapy Can Help
At Pandi Physical Therapy Center (PPTC), our physical therapists can assess your neck, shoulder, posture, movement, strength, and neurological signs to help identify contributing factors and develop an individualized rehabilitation program.
