Today I had the great pleasure of going to an Narcotics anonymous meeting in Miami. This was the “Just for Today” reading, and one line stopped me: “Truth is my connection to reality.”

This message truly applies to anyone, whether in recovery or not. So much of our suffering comes from the stories we tell ourselves instead of what’s actually happening. Recovery rooms teach a kind of radical honesty that most of us could use more of, in relationships, at work, with ourselves.

Grateful for the reminder. Grateful for rooms like this one, wherever they are. Sit in enough of these rooms and you start to wonder why the rest of us don’t talk this honestly all the time.

She had no idea what was coming. 🤍

Little me just kept going. Through every hard season, every long year of training, all the sacrifices. without knowing that one day, she’d make history.

Today, I became the first and only psychologist in Puerto Rico to earn board certification in Addiction Psychology through the American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP). Out of every licensed psychologist in the United States and its territories, only 40 of us hold this credential. I am the only one on this island.

Board certification isn’t just a title. It means I’ve been evaluated by my peers at the highest level. My clinical skills, my ethics, my knowledge of addiction have been rigorously reviewed and affirmed. It means the people who walk through my doors deserve and will receive a standard of care that has never existed in Puerto Rico before. Not like this.

This is what I’ve been working toward. And it will change the way I show up for every single patient.
