Keep your muscles strong and stay healthy with our surprisingly challenging foot workout - a workout you can do in bed, lying down - with a cast or boot - to help you maintain your strength and mobility even if you're recovering. 💙

Facts:

Early movement beats immobilisation.
In a clinical trial comparing the two approaches, patients who started moving early were 4x more likely to be back to full work at 10 days (54% vs 13%) and reported significantly less pain at 3 weeks (57% vs 87%).

Movement improves blood flow, which drives healing.
Exercise promotes improved blood flow to the injured area, accelerating healing by delivering essential nutrients directly to the damaged tissue. Sitting still starves the injury of what it needs.

Structured exercise also prevents re-injury.
Systematic reviews show that exercise-based rehabilitation on top of usual care can significantly reduce the chance of re-spraining the ankle — which is one of the biggest risks after a first sprain.
