Loved seeing this moment during our TBWA x Safe Space™ on-site talk: Hidden Costs in the Modern Workplace: The Psychology of Stress, Energy, & Burnout Prevention.

One of the simplest activities of the session? Turn to the person next to you and give them a genuine, specific compliment.

It takes 20 seconds. But in a busy workplace, that small moment of recognition can remind someone that they are seen.

Led by Dr. Adam Seet, the session explored how the demands of modern work can quietly drain our physical, cognitive and emotional batteries and what we can do before they hit 1%.

Our Top 3 Takeaways:

1. Relief isn’t always recovery.
Scrolling, switching off or doing something “easy” may feel good in the moment, but it doesn’t necessarily leave us restored. Real recovery means understanding what your physical, cognitive or emotional battery actually needs.

2. Don’t wait until you’re running on 1%.
Burnout prevention starts much earlier. Notice where your energy is being depleted, recharge early, and make recovery part of the working week rather than something you postpone until the weekend.

3. Connection is a form of emotional recharge.
Sometimes people don’t need another solution. They need to feel heard, understood and supported. Even something as simple as a thoughtful compliment can create a moment of human connection at work.

Perhaps the biggest reminder from the session: Stress is normal. Burnout is not inevitable.

This piece of feedback made us smile: ‘I never thought I’d like therapy sessions till I was introduced to Safe Space.

A mental health benefit can be available to every employee — and still go largely unused.

That’s why at Safe Space™, we think a lot about the difference between availability and engagement.

Availability is giving someone access to therapy.

Engagement is whether they feel comfortable enough to book, feel understood when they show up, and see enough value to come back.

One recent post-session survey gave us a good reminder of what that looks like in practice:

⭐ 10/10 — Felt heard, understood and respected
⭐ 10/10 — Worked on the goals and topics that mattered
⭐ 10/10 — Therapist approach was the right fit
⭐ 10/10 — Session felt right for them
⭐ 10/10 — Likelihood of booking another session

But the comment that stood out most was:

“I never thought I’d like therapy sessions till I was introduced to Safe Space :)”

For us, this is why client experience matters so much.

The goal isn't simply to put a counselling benefit on an employee benefits page.

It is to build enough trust, quality and fit that people actually want to use the support available to them.

Because access is only the first step. Engagement is where the impact starts.

Happy 61st National Day, Singapore!

As we celebrate how far our nation has come, our wish for Singapore is not only continued progress but a healthier relationship with what progress asks of us.

1. We hope for a Singapore where success does not have to come at the expense of mental health.

2. Where people feel able to say, “I’m struggling” before they reach breaking point.

3. Where workplaces recognise that wellbeing is not a perk, but part of building sustainable teams.

4. Where children grow up knowing that asking for help is a strength.

5. Where caregivers, parents, leaders and those who are always “holding it together” have space to be supported too.

6. Where mental health support feels normal, accessible and free from judgement.

Singapore has always been a nation built on resilience. But resilience should not mean enduring everything silently.

As we look towards the next chapter of our home country, we hope we continue building a Singapore that is not only stronger and more successful; but also kinder, more connected and mentally healthier.

Happy National Day, Singapore.

With care,
Safe Space™

Organisations that prioritise mental wellbeing see real growth. Here's how meaningful moments transform workplace culture.

There is something powerful about organisations that recognise learning isn't only about professional skills; it's also about supporting the people behind the work.

Last week, Safe Space had the privilege of being part of LUXASIA's Learning Festival, where we spent time with employees exploring practical ways to strengthen mental wellbeing, resilience, and personal growth.

What stood out most wasn't just the conversations we facilitated—it was the willingness of people to pause, reflect, ask honest questions, and invest in themselves.

Creating healthier workplaces doesn't happen through a single initiative. It happens through consistent moments where organisations make wellbeing part of how people learn, grow, and lead.

A huge thank you to the LUXASIA team for trusting us to be part of your learning journey.

If you're planning your next Learning Festival, Townhall, Wellbeing Week, Leadership Offsite, or World Mental Health Day programme, we'd love to help you create an experience that leaves employees with practical tools they can actually use.

Today is International Self-Care Day 💛

Self-care isn't just bubble baths and face masks (though those help too). Sometimes it's saying no when you need to. Resting without guilt. Asking for help. Setting a boundary and actually keeping it.

However you take care of yourself today, even if it's just five quiet minutes, that counts.

You deserve the same compassion you give everyone else.

💬 Tell us below: what's one small thing you're doing for you today?

"Man up." It's a phrase many men grow up hearing.

But what happens when "being strong" means staying silent, saying yes to everything, and carrying the weight alone?

This week, the Safe Space team had the privilege of speaking with the team at TBWA on "Supporting Men's Peaceful Transformation: How to Stop Sabotaging Yourself." Together, we explored how the pressures many men experience—especially in fast-paced creative industries—can quietly turn into self-sabotage.

Here are 5 insights that stood out:

1. Being "always on" isn't a badge of honour.
Constant availability, late-night revisions and never switching off might look like commitment, but over time it can become burnout disguised as productivity.

2. Perfectionism often hides fear, not excellence.
Fear of making mistakes or being "found out" can lead to overworking, micromanaging and creative paralysis instead of doing your best work.

3. Saying yes to everything is a form of self-sabotage.
Many men avoid difficult conversations because they fear disappointing others. Healthy boundaries aren't selfish—they're essential for sustainable performance.

The conversation reminded us that supporting men's mental health isn't just about preventing crises.

It's about creating workplaces where men don't feel they have to perform strength every day just to belong.

A big thank you to TBWA for creating space for these honest conversations and to everyone who participated so openly.

If you're looking to bring practical, evidence-informed mental health talks, leadership workshops, or Employee Assistance Programmes (EAP) to your organisation, we'd love to help.

Three days. Two incredible venues. Time-tested conversations that challenged what it takes to build a company.

What made the experience memorable was the opportunity to learn from entrepreneurs and business leaders who have built enduring organisations across generations and industries.

Some key takeaways we're bringing back to Safe Space™:

🌱 Build for longevity, not just growth. Sustainable businesses are created through disciplined decisions and a clear long-term vision.

🤝 People remain the greatest competitive advantage.** Technology can scale a business, but culture, trust and strong leadership are what keep teams and customers engaged.

💬 The best conversations don't always happen on stage. Some of our biggest insights came from exchanging ideas with fellow founders, sharing challenges and learning from one another's journeys.

📚 Never stop learning. No matter the size or age of a business, curiosity and humility continue to be traits shared by the leaders we admire most.

As a company committed to improving mental wellbeing across workplaces, these conversations reinforced something we see every day: resilient organisations are built by leaders who invest in both business performance and the people behind it.

A sincere thank you to Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce & Industry (SCCCI) for organising such a meaningful programme and creating a platform for young entrepreneurs to learn, connect and grow together.

We're excited to apply these lessons as we continue building the future of workplace mental health.
