Dear beloved...

As we observe Mental Health Awareness Week 2026 with the theme of "Action,"I am reminded of the profound power each of us holds to create meaningful change. Mental health is not just an individual journey but a collective responsibility, one that calls us to take tangible, compassionate steps for ourselves, for others, and for society.

Let us prioritize self-care, setting boundaries, embracing rest, and nurturing our well-being. Support those around us, friends, colleagues, neighbors and foster communities rooted in compassion and understanding. And, together, we must advocate for better mental health support in our workplaces and society, ensuring no one is left behind.

Every small, evidence-based action—whether moving more, connecting with nature, or uplifting a community initiative—contributes to a healthier, more inclusive world. Let’s move beyond awareness and turn intention into action. Because real, lasting change begins with us.

Together, we can build a future where mental health is valued, supported, and prioritized for all.

Regards,
ED ARMeD Victims SL.

ARMeD Victims SL proudly joined close to two hundred youth-led and for youth organizations, gathered at a high-level One-Day Youth Stakeholders Engagement organized by the National Youth Commission Sierra Leone in collaboration with the National Youth Sector Caucus under the theme “Advancing Advocacy and Leveraging Expertise for Youth Empowerment in Sierra Leone.” The event aimed to strengthen youth coordination, policy influence, and collective action across the country, featuring NAYCOM’s presentation of its Strategic Plan centered on five key pillars and its Annual Work Plan to deliver inclusive youth development results nationwide. Key stakeholders, including youth leaders, civil society representatives, and government officials, emphasized the importance of coordinated advocacy, structured engagement, and collaboration with youth-led organizations and development partners to ensure impactful implementation. Notable remarks highlighted youth empowerment as a collective effort driven by responsible leadership, inclusivity, policy influence, sustainable financing, and meaningful participation in governance. The Acting Minister of Youth Affairs reaffirmed government’s commitment to youth development, urging shared responsibility and innovation. Leaders from civil society and youth organizations called for stronger trust, strategic partnerships, and translating empowerment into tangible policy actions and social justice. Commissioner Joseph Maada Lahai stressed the need for enhanced coordination, collaboration, and increased investment in youth expertise. The engagement underscored the importance of building a unified youth ecosystem where young voices are respected, coordinated, and empowered to drive national progress, moving from fragmented efforts to collective impact for a future of opportunity, dignity, and development for every youth in Sierra Leone.

💚 Today is World Bipolar Day

💡 Bipolar disorder is a mental health condition that affects mood, energy and daily life — with shifts between very high energy (mania) and deep lows (depression).

👉 Around 37 million people worldwide (1 in 200) live with bipolar disorder.

⚠️ It’s also one of the leading causes of disability globally, affecting work, relationships and everyday activities. Many people are misdiagnosed or don’t receive care, and stigma still prevents people from getting help.

*The good news:*

✅ Bipolar disorder is treatable
✅ With the right support people can live full, meaningful lives

*But there are challenges:*

🚨 Higher risk of su***de
🚨 Often linked with other health issues
🚨 People may live up to 13 years less on average

*Let’s remember:*

💬 Mental health matters. Support, understanding and access to care can change lives.
