Helping patients and their families feel reassured throughout their eyecare journey is one of my favourite things about the job.

This message touched me because it highlights something that often goes beyond the procedure itself: trust.

When a loved one needs surgery, especially when family members are far away, there can be a lot of worry and uncertainty. Knowing that a patient feels cared for before, during, and after surgery can therefore make all the difference.

I was grateful for the opportunity to care for your mom and honored by your kind words!

To every patient who places their trust in us: thank you. We never take that responsibility lightly.

When it comes to eye emergencies, timing can be critical.

Sudden changes in vision, eye pain, injury, or unusual visual symptoms should never be ignored or “waited out.”

In many cases, early intervention can make the difference between full recovery and permanent damage.

If something feels off, trust that instinct. Vision is not something to gamble with and urgent symptoms deserve urgent care.

Swimming is great for fitness and relaxation but your eyes may not always agree.

Pool water is treated with chlorine to keep it clean, but that same chemical can irritate the delicate surface of your eyes.

On top of that, shared water environments can expose your eyes to bacteria and viruses that may lead to infections like conjunctivitis.

One important risk many people overlook: wearing contact lenses in the pool. Lenses can trap bacteria against the eye, increasing infection risk significantly.

So, what are some simple ways to protect your vision?

- Use swim goggles
- Avoid wearing contact lenses in water
- Rinse your eyes with clean water after swimming if irritated
- Seek care if redness, pain, or discharge persists

Many people assume they only need an eye exam when their vision becomes severely blurry.

However, three common symptoms that may signal it’s time for an eye check include:

• Frequent headaches
• Blurry or fluctuating vision
• Persistent eye strain

These symptoms may be related to vision changes, screen strain, or other eye conditions that benefit from early evaluation.

If you’ve noticed any of these symptoms recently, scheduling an eye exam may be a good next step.

Many people are surprised when their vision begins to feel different in their 30s, noticing things like temporary blurriness after using their phone, difficulty shifting focus between screens and distance, or more frequent eye strain.

In many cases, this is related to natural changes in how the eyes focus as the muscles that help your eyes adjust between near and far objects can become slightly less responsive over time.

Long hours on screens, reduced blinking, and visual fatigue can make these changes more noticeable.

While some changes are normal, persistent symptoms should always be evaluated.

Regular eye exams help detect vision changes early and ensure your eyes remain healthy.

If you’ve noticed your eyes feeling more tired than usual, it might be time to have them checked.

Children today are growing up in a world filled with screens, tablets, phones, computers, and online learning.

While technology has its benefits, extended screen use can place extra strain on young, developing eyes.

One concern doctors are seeing more often is childhood myopia (nearsightedness), a condition where distant objects appear blurry.

When children spend long hours focusing on screens or other close-up activities, their eyes are constantly working at short distances and, over time, this may influence how the eye develops.

If your child is squinting, sitting very close to screens, or struggling to see distant objects clearly, it may be time for an eye check-up.

Save this post for other parents and share it with someone who might find it helpful.

Prolonged screen exposure at the workplace has become routine, and yet many professionals normalise the discomfort that follows.

Digital eye strain has become increasingly common in office environments. And, the result is not only eye discomfort but also decreased concentration, reduced productivity, and increased mental fatigue.

Vision and cognition are closely linked; when visual input is strained, overall performance can decline.

If your eyes feel tired at the end of each workday, that is information worth paying attention to.

Remember, symptoms are signals, not simply inconveniences.

Maintaining your vision is more than just aiming to see clearly. It’s about preserving independence and quality of life.

When choosing an eye care provider, understanding the level of training behind that care makes a significant difference.

An Ophthalmologist endures years of specialized training focused exclusively on the eyes and visual system. This background allows for the medical and surgical management of complex conditions.

Why does this matter? Because many serious eye diseases progress silently. Glaucoma can gradually narrow peripheral vision without noticeable symptoms. Diabetic retinopathy can advance before central vision is affected. Macular degeneration may begin subtly but impact daily tasks significantly over time.

A complete medical evaluation from our Team can therefore enable early detection, accurate diagnosis, and when necessary, surgical intervention, all in one place.

Fasting is observed for many reasons; spiritual, cultural, and health-related.

During periods of fast, many persons become more attentive to their bodies as sudden changes, even subtle ones, can feel alarming when routines shift.

As it relates to our eyes, most short-term fasting does not cause structural damage. However, environmental and dietary shifts can temporarily influence comfort and clarity throughout the day.

If you are fasting and uncertain about symptoms, schedule a consultation.

Clarity reduces anxiety, and proactive care protects long-term vision always!
