Please send me a PM to join 🙏🧡

It was really nice to see some of our yogi friends online on the first day of this month!

As you know, when Chuck and I are not traveling to teach, we‘re in a very different part of the world from where most of our students are. Even though I occasionally receive inquiries from Europe and the US, the time differences can be challenging, with different time zones across countries and states, so I haven’t been offering regular classes.

However, some yogi friends have decided to do private sessions with me when group classes aren‘t possible. To make it more affordable for everyone, I’d like to open these up as small group classes. We‘re planning to practice mostly on Monday evenings (European time). Video recordings will be available, so no worries if you can’t join every session.

We usually begin by ”undoing“ certain areas of the body, then explore different asanas with attention to alignment and action, using Samasthiti as our guide. Breathing, meditation, and discussion are also important elements of the course.

Recent thoughts on practice…

Hearing so many questions from students in each class, I am amazed by how quickly we expect ourselves to “learn” yoga. Many of us expect ourselves to just “get there” — to achieve certain “poses” in a very short time.

Adho Mukha Svanasana / Downward Facing Dog is such a complicated and rich practice, yet we want to simply “do” it the moment the teacher calls out its name in the first class we attend. Like Prashant Iyengar said: “Stop doing yoga.” Indeed, there is nothing to be done, but there is always somewhere to begin and access the practice.

The way yoga and asana practice can be liberating and empowering is only when we see asanas as practices. We can feel grateful that there are so many things for us to explore and learn through yoga. In contrast, if we see them as shapes to achieve or become, we will always feel like we are not enough.

We all have to start from where we are, with what is available and what works for us. Sometimes we are too casual and want things to progress too quickly, and in doing so we miss the point of “practice.” Yet at other times, we become too harsh on ourselves. Learning how to repeatedly adjust ourselves without beating ourselves up is a kind of wisdom, and is SAMA.

Gradually, we cultivate ahimsa, compassion, and love towards ourselves and others through practices that are not defined by achievement and have no need for self-criticism or comparison.

Syrena and I are coming to South America! 🌞
Syrena Yoga

We’ll be offering my 5-day Sama-Ashtanga Yoga Intensive format, but for the first time we’ll be teaching more as a team.

Syrena has been assisting me in workshops across Europe and Asia and students love it! Having her working hands-on while I guide with my voice creates a really nice dynamic.

It’s also very nice to have a different perspective to broaden the teaching. I think everyone who has met her can feel that too.

Chuck

For the first time in Chile.

Chuck and Syrena Miller will share five days of practice, philosophy, and deep investigation into Ashtanga Yoga in the heart of the southern Chilean wilderness.

With more than 55 years of practice and over four decades teaching around the world, Chuck Miller belongs to a generation of teachers who received the teachings of Sri T. Krishnamacharya and Sri K. Pattabhi Jois through decades of practice, study, and close association since the 1980s.

His presence in the room transmits a knowledge that does not arise merely from technique or the external form of yoga, but from a living and direct understanding of the traditional Ashtanga Yoga lineage.

A rare form of knowledge in these times, where much of the practice has been absorbed by superficiality, image, and the distortions of ego.

To practice with a teacher of this depth and trajectory is to come into contact with a teaching that points toward the essential:

the observation of the Self,
the dissolution of illusion,
and the recognition of Ātma — the true nature of the soul.

Alongside him will be Syrena Lin-Miller, who has accompanied and taught with him throughout many countries around the world, bringing sensitivity, depth, and a profoundly human quality that supports and enriches the experience of learning.

This gathering is not intended merely to teach a physical practice.

It is an invitation to enter a doorway toward a deeper and transformative knowledge — one that is becoming increasingly rare to encounter.

Hi yogi friends,

I’ve received some requests from Europe to offer online teaching. Before I design a more structured course, I’d like to invite those who are interested to a 2-hour session.

I’ll share some practices I use, focusing on commonly tight or under-trained areas that can help improve the body’s ability to find a more neutral position.

If time allows, we’ll also explore Adho Mukha Svanasana (Downward-Facing Dog Pose) and try practices that may help prepare both body and mind for this simple yet complex pose.

Please message me to sign up. If you’re interested but unable to join live, feel free to reach out—we can explore other possibilities.

No fee required. A ZOOM link will be provided.
Please prepare two blocks and a belt.

with love ❤️

A little while ago, I was invited by Ho to offer an online meditation and breathwork course for beginners to her community.

I tried to share the ideas in the simplest and most accessible way possible with the participants.

I’m thankful for their generosity in allowing me to share a few clips from the class. I hope they may also be helpful to some friends here.

「就像Krishna(奎師那/大黑天)賦予Arjuna(阿周那)隻特別的眼睛,使他看見他的神一樣,而後彎就像第三隻眼。

So lucky to be able to see and listen to Bocelli in Paris. Apart from his solid and heavenly voice, what amazed us most was his upright posture, despite the loss of his eyesight.

We look at ourselves in the mirror every day, yet most people—consciously or unconsciously—allow their bodies to shrink and become stiff.

It’s really a shame. With some knowledge and a bit of effort, we can maintain the ability to return to a neutral, non-compressed position whenever we want. We just need to do a little every day.
