Iā€™ve attended 52 births this past year as student midwife, doula, or midwife assist and Iā€™ve learned so much about the miracle of birth and the powerfulness of women!
ā€¦ā€¦ā€¦But there is alsoā€¦ā€¦..this little whisper of a moment that Iā€™ve also witnessed over and over again. It happens when baby is put into their mamaā€™s arms or at the breast in the first moments right after birth. Itā€™s such a uniquely defined miraculous moment where baby opens their eyes and stares into their motherā€™s face. Itā€™s an innate impulse to imprint our motherā€™s face (and smell) into ourselvesā€¦.matching the voice and heartbeat to now the source of our comfort and nourishment. Eyes open and taking their beautiful Mama all in. šŸ’— Itā€™s a truly miraculous moment that you can easily miss if you blink, but itā€™s there and itā€™s purposeful and I look for this sweet whisper of a moment every time.

This mom reached out to me after the birth of her rainbow baby. She shared a part of her story that her first baby girl was born sleeping and asked if possible to incorporate that into my art.

As many of you know my first granddaughter, Nova was born sleeping in January of 2023 and her little rainbow brother was born in December of that same year.

Soā€¦ as I was reflecting on the prints that I made for this sweet mom, one thing came to my mindā€¦.something I read about how a tiny number of cells can travel between mom and baby through the placenta during each pregnancy. Those cells can stay in the body for yearsā€¦.sometimes decades.
Because of this, we carry cells from multiple pregnancies, resulting in siblings being exposed to traces of one anotherā€™s cells in utero. šŸ’—

Literally, our babies leave pieces of themselves with usā€¦ and with each other. That was my inspiration for this print. Beautiful remembrance. šŸ’—

Just wanted to share this quick review of Eight Moons Placenta SmoothiesšŸ“šŸŒšŸ„šŸ„­. Personally, the smoothies are my favorite way to use placenta to help moms with their postpartum healing and recovery.
I highly recommend incorporating placenta smoothies into your encapsulation order! No weird taste. No strange aftertaste. Every mom who tries them loves them! If you hate taking oneā€¦moreā€¦pillā€¦.. try ordering smoothies made with your dehydrated and finely ground placenta or raw placenta.
Smoothies are made with fresh fruit (strawberries, blackberries, mango, kiwi, banana, and blueberries) and your choice to add kale and/or spinach. They come already frozen and in a great convenient smoothie pouch.
Just thaw, straw, and sip for a better postpartum.
