The Joint Commission has certified Summa Health System – Akron Campus as a Comprehensive Stroke Center. Summa Health was the first hospital in greater Akron to receive Comprehensive Stroke Center certification when we achieved it in 2022. This marks three consecutive review periods of Summa Health consistently earning this achievement. Comprehensive Stroke Centers represent the pinnacle of stroke care. The certification indicates that we provide the most advanced treatments available and have neurologists, neurosurgeons, neurointerventional radiologists, neurocritical care specialists and vascular surgeons working as one cohesive unit.
