We recently had the exciting opportunity to welcome the crew from All Access with Andy Garcia to Mennonite Village as they filmed for an upcoming documentary exploring the importance of community in aging. The segment will highlight how meaningful connections, friendships, and resident-led activities help people continue to live with purpose, belonging, and joy as they age.

These behind-the-scenes photos offer a glimpse into a special day on our campus as residents, team members, and community life took center stage. We are honored to share the story of Mennonite Village and the many ways our residents create and nurture community every day.

Exciting News from Mennonite Village! 🎥✨

We're thrilled to share that Mennonite Village has been selected as the filming location for an upcoming segment of All Access with Andy Garcia, a nationally distributed public television program that explores impactful stories and organizations across the country.

The segment will focus on the importance of community in aging, showcasing how meaningful relationships, resident-led activities, and a strong sense of belonging enrich life at every stage. Filming will take place right here on our Albany campus, where residents experience connection, purpose, and support every day.

For nearly 80 years, Mennonite Village has been committed to creating a place where older adults can thrive, and we're honored to have the opportunity to share that story with a broader audience.

☕🎉 Brewing Up Connection for Two Wonderful Years! 🎉☕

Today, we're raising a cup to two special celebrations at Mennonite Village: National Coffee Day and the 2nd Anniversary of Essen Haus Coffee Shop!

For the past two years, Essen Haus has been so much more than a coffee shop. It's a gathering place where neighbors become friends, stories are shared, laughter fills the room, and meaningful connections are made over a favorite cup of coffee.

To mark the occasion, residents, staff and guests enjoyed a special pop-up dining experience featuring delicious pumpkin spice and vanilla lattes, warm conversation, and plenty of reasons to celebrate. Whether stopping in for a morning latte, meeting a friend for conversation, or simply enjoying the welcoming atmosphere, Essen Haus continues to be a cherished part of daily life in our community.

🎨✨ Creativity, community, and a whole lot of talent!

Our Mennonite Village Resident & Staff Art Exhibit and Sale was such a wonderful celebration of the creativity within our community. From beautiful artwork and handmade treasures to unique crafts made with plenty of heart, there was something to catch everyone’s eye!

We loved seeing so many residents, staff, families, friends, and guests come together to browse, shop, visit, and enjoy the afternoon. ❤️

And there’s more to crafting than creating something beautiful. Creative activities can help older adults stay engaged, express themselves, build connections, and create meaningful opportunities for social interaction. Sometimes, the best part of making something is the conversation and community that happen along the way!

A big thank-you to everyone who shared their talents, supported our artists, and helped make the event such a success. We’re already looking forward to seeing what our talented residents and staff create next! 🖌️🧶🌿

As summer gently gives way to fall, our community gardens are putting on a spectacular display of color, growth, and harvest.

From vibrant blooms and winding squash vines to ripening fruits and fresh vegetables, every corner of the garden reflects the care, dedication, and passion of our resident gardeners. These aerial views offer a beautiful perspective of a space that thrives not only because of the season, but because of the hands and hearts that nurture it every day.

The gardens are more than a place to grow food and flowers. They are a place where friendships flourish, knowledge is shared, and the joys of each season are celebrated together.

🌷👟 Walking Together for a Cause Close to Our Hearts 👟🌷

What an incredible day of community, compassion, and connection!

Nearly 75 Mennonite Village residents and team members came together for our First Annual Alzheimer's Awareness Walk right here on campus. Thanks to the generosity and enthusiasm of everyone who participated, volunteered, baked, and donated, we raised an amazing $1,500.64!

These funds will help create a beautiful new courtyard garden at Lydia’s House, providing a peaceful and therapeutic outdoor space for memory care residents to enjoy for years to come. Even more exciting, Mennonite Village will match every dollar raised with a direct donation to the Alzheimer's Association, doubling the impact of our community's efforts.

Every step taken that day was a step toward greater awareness, support for those affected by Alzheimer's disease, and a brighter future for memory care.
