Have you ever noticed your child sitting like this in a little “W” shape and thought… “Huh, that can’t be comfortable.” 🤔 Turns out, W-sitting can actually tell us A LOT about what’s going on inside a child’s nervous system and core stability.

A lot of kids who W-sit are actually searching for MORE stability because their bodies are struggling to coordinate balance, posture, and muscle control well on their own.

That’s why W-sitting is often connected with things like:
❌ Poor posture
❌ Clumsiness
❌ Delayed motor milestones
❌ Core weakness
❌ Sensory challenges
❌ “Always on the move” behaviors

The body is smart. Kids naturally find positions that make them feel the most secure and supported. But sometimes those patterns are also clues that the nervous system may be under stress and not developing as efficiently as it could. 🧠

This is exactly why we look deeper at the nervous system first, instead of just telling kids to “sit differently.” Because when the nervous system becomes more regulated and coordinated, stronger movement patterns often follow naturally.
