Good food has a way of bringing people together 🤝🌮

Today at the Wellness Center here at Turning Point Recovery Center, we made homemade chicken fajitas with fresh bell peppers, onions, Spanish rice, refried beans, and a roasted garden salsa made with tomatoes, jalapeños, garlic, lime, and cilantro.

Moments like these are about more than just food. They’re about learning healthy habits, building community, creating routine, and reminding ourselves that recovery can also look like laughter around the table and sharing a meal together 💙

🔥 Quick Recipe Breakdown:

• Slice bell peppers and onions
• Season chicken with your favorite fajita seasoning and cook until golden brown
• Warm up refried beans and Spanish rice
• Roast tomatoes, onions, garlic, and jalapeños with a little oil in the oven until softened and slightly charred
• Blend roasted veggies together for salsa, then mix in lime, cilantro, and fresh onions
• Warm tortillas and plate everything together

And of course… finish it off with root beer floats 🍨

Pride is about more than celebration. 🏳️‍🌈
It’s also about healing, honesty, support, and community.

This month we’re having real conversations around LGBTQ+ mental health, emotional wellness, trauma, and substance use recovery because nobody should have to struggle alone.

Our team from Turning Point Recovery Center will also be out in the community during Albuquerque Pride weekend June 12th–14th with a booth setup, resources available, and participating in the Pride parade.

Please come stop by our booth, connect with our team, ask questions, grab resources, or simply say hello.

If you or somebody you know is struggling with mental health or substance use, please know there are people who care and resources available.

Mental health isn’t static—it shifts. And for some people, seasonal depression plays a real role.

Lower energy, changes in mood, and loss of motivation can lead people to cope in unhealthy waysincluding substance use.

But there’s another path.

📊 According to Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, recognizing patterns in mental health is a key step toward recovery.

Today we honor the brave men and women who gave everything in service to our country. 🇺🇸

At Turning Point Recovery Center, we recognize that freedom, healing, and hope are possible because of the sacrifices made by those who stepped up when others couldn’t.

This Memorial Day, we remember the fallen, stand beside our veterans, and encourage our community to lead with gratitude, compassion, and purpose.

Thank you to all who served — and especially to those who made the ultimate sacrifice. ❤️🤍💙

Today we had the opportunity to be out at the Veteran’s Mental Health Panel & Resource Fair with NAMI Albuquerque, connecting with veterans, families, and community members about the importance of mental health, recovery, and support. 🇺🇸

Healing starts with conversation, connection, and knowing that you are not alone. Whether someone is struggling with mental health challenges, substance use, trauma, or simply feeling overwhelmed, support is available and recovery is possible.

We’re grateful to stand alongside organizations and individuals working to put hope within reach for our veterans and community.

Happy Tuesday All! 🔥🍋🍗

This week’s TPRC Nutrition Group Recovery Recipes brought comfort food, connection, and simple nutrition together with a plate that’s easy to make and even easier to enjoy.

On the menu:
Baked Lemon Pepper Chicken, Rosemary Potatoes, and Jasmine Rice 🍽️

Because recovery isn’t about perfection—
it’s about learning how to nourish yourself consistently, build routine, and create moments that bring peace back into everyday life.

Simple meals like this can help support energy, mood, and stability while reminding us that taking care of ourselves doesn’t have to feel overwhelming.

Here’s a simple way to recreate it at home 👇

🍋 Lemon Pepper Chicken
Ingredients:
• Chicken thighs or breasts
• Olive oil
• Lemon pepper seasoning
• Garlic powder
• Fresh lemon slices

Directions:
Preheat oven to 400°F.
Lightly coat chicken with olive oil and seasonings.
Top with lemon slices and bake for 25–35 minutes until fully cooked and golden.

🥔 Rosemary Potatoes
Ingredients:
• Baby potatoes
• Olive oil
• Fresh rosemary
• Salt, pepper, garlic powder

Directions:
Cut potatoes in halves, coat with oil and seasonings, then roast at 400°F for 30–35 minutes until crispy and tender.

🍚 Jasmine Rice
Cook according to package instructions and serve fresh alongside the chicken and potatoes.

Why this matters:
Balanced meals with protein, carbs, and healthy fats can help support recovery by improving consistency, energy levels, and overall wellness.

But beyond the food—
meals like this create connection, conversation, and moments to slow down and be present.

Recovery is about rebuilding the small things too. 🧑‍🍳✨

Tune in every Tuesday as we continue sharing Recovery Recipes and practical ways to support healing through nutrition and community.

“It’s not that I didn’t care… I just couldn’t focus.”

Undiagnosed ADHD is more common than people think—and it often gets misunderstood.

📊 Research shows that adults with ADHD are 2–3x more likely to develop substance use disorders compared to the general population.

Many people turn to substances to cope with restlessness, overwhelm, or difficulty regulating attention.

At Turning Point, we focus on understanding the why behind substance use.
