What are you being asked to let go of in this season?
One of the hardest parts of parenting an increasingly independent child can be recognizing the difference between loving them and managing their life.
You may still have opinions about their choices.
You may wish they called more.
You may want to protect them from mistakes you can already see coming.
You may even find yourself thinking, "If they would just listen to me…"
But the parenting role is changing.
A powerful question for this season can be:
"Where might I still be trying to manage something that is no longer mine to manage?"
Then ask:
What is actually within my control?
What isn't?
What need is underneath my disappointment when my expectations aren't met?
And how might I begin meeting some of that need myself?
Letting go doesn't mean caring less.
Sometimes it means learning how to love differently. Join us for our support group starting September 9th!
