We hear it all the time, “Why do I need a preventative exam if nothing is wrong with me?” The conditions we worry about most usually don’t have symptoms until they’ve been doing damage for a while. Your annual wellness exam is how we catch things early, when they are typically easier to treat.

Patients who are BCBS of Alabama members may receive a letter stating that their healthcare provider is leaving the Blue Advantage (PPO) network.

If you receive this notice, please know this is a standard notification because Dr. John James is no longer practicing at PriCare.

The good news: Dr. Kevin Henderson is in network with Blue Advantage (PPO) and is accepting new patients. You may choose Dr. Henderson as your Primary Care Provider (P*P) and continue receiving your care at PriCare.

Receiving this letter does not mean you have to find a new medical practice. It simply notifies you that your previous physician is no longer participating in your plan.

Meet the newest member of the PriCare team. | We're proud to welcome Kevin Henderson, DO, as our new collaborating physician. Dr. Henderson is an internal medicine physician with a background in hospital medicine, bringing years of experience caring for adults managing everything from diabetes to complex, ongoing health conditions. He completed his medical training at Kansas City University and his residency with Baptist Health System.

His role supports the care you already trust. Blair Gilliland, CRNP, and Kayla Hawkins, CRNP, along with our full nursing team, remain the familiar faces you'll see at every visit. Dr. Henderson strengthens the experienced team standing behind them.

An important update for our PriCare family 💙
Some of you may have received a letter from your insurance company about Dr. John James. Here is what you need to know:
PriCare is still here, and we are still your healthcare home.

After helping guide our practice through this transition, Dr. James has officially retired. We are thankful for everything he gave to our community, and we wish him well. This week, we are glad to welcome Dr. Kevin Henderson as our new collaborating physician.

Your care does not change. You will see the same nurse practitioners and the same caring team at every visit. Nothing about your appointments or your records is going anywhere.
If your insurance lists Dr. James as your primary provider, give us a call and we will help you update it. We are here for you.
