Elvis was in the building!
For an off season Elvis Tribute, we invited Lee Piper, one of Metro Detroit’s favorite Elvis Impersonators, to our community and boy did he show up and showed out.
The best part, there was not an empty chair in the room and every single resident, family member and staff member, were singing along in admiration.
Thank you Lee for such a wonderful performance, we will see you soon!

For the month of of July, we here at Maple Heights are honored to announce Regina R. as our Life Celebrated Appointee.

Regina, finding out at the age of 20 came to the realization that she had been living with a disability, unbeknownst until then.

As an outlet for Regina to express herself, Regina took up something that instantly became of interest, writing poetry.

Regina, was able to write about all the emotions of sadness, anger, hurt an pain in all aspects of her life, eventually writing several poetry books and reading books for all ages.

For Julys Simple wish, we were prompted to celebrate Regina’s life by allowing her to express herself now with all who love her.

We also hired a Spoken Word Poet Natasha BeautifulThought, to assist Regina with reading Regina’s poetry, as well as reading Natasha’s own poetry.

The entire room was moved by each poem read and there was not a dry eye in the room as Regina was able to share her life with all.

We are so blessed to have been able to honor Regina and we are excited to read the next book that she will publish in the future.

For the month of June, we chose Hazel M. To be our Simple wish.
Hazel has been part of our Maple Heights for some time, and we thought it necessary to grant her simple wish to bring a little more joy to her.
Although, offered almost any desire that she wanted, Hazel chose one thing that made her happy, a fried chicken salad from Leo’s Coney Island.
When asked why she chose her fried chicken salad, she stated, “because I’m just a simple person”, saying it with a laugh.
Regardless of what Hazel wanted, it was her wish, it was her desire and that is exactly what our mission is…bringing happiness to all.
As you can see Hazel was definitely happy with her choice. ☺️

On Saturday May 30th, Maple Heights and our Local Corvette Club, came together for a special event, honoring Frank P. as our Life Celebrated.
Corvettes and Mustangs took the time out of their busy weekend to honor Frank and spent the day engaging with our Maple Heights family.
Frank, during his employment with Ford Motor Company, was ecstatic when he was chosen to be team lead in manufacturing the Ford GT, a vehicle that was limited in making.
What an accomplishment for Frank to be part of the assembly of the Ford GT, an accomplishment that he will always cherish.
Although Frank was unable to participate in the event outdoors, we were able to capture a special moment of Frank waving at the participants in the parking lot while he waved back from his apartment.
I want to thank all of of our Downriver Corvette Club and Ford Mustang club for honoring Frank by showing up and showing out for Him.
Not only did Frank enjoy the show, our residents were able to be part of it as well.
Of course I have to give a huge thank you to Robert Isaac, Maple Heights front desk Concierge, for all his help in making this event happen. Thank you Robert for all that you do!

What a beautiful turnout we had today blessing our Mother’s, Moms, Mama’s and/or Mommy’s.
It was so wonderful watching our ladies create their own bouquets and seeing the smiles on all who attended.
We want to thank Amber Hospice for the love, support of course all their help they provided today, with their help we made it possible!
Tears were definitely shed today.

Maple Heights would like to give a huge shoutout to the Melvindale High School Key Club for an afternoon of togetherness, music, dancing and memories. It was because of them that our community was able to experience our very own Senior Prom.
This day was so special for each and individual who were able to attend, especially for our nominated Prom King and Prom Queen.
This was the prom that so many of our residents were unable to attend when they themselves were in high school.
Even the Allen Park Fire fighters were able to join us for a picture or two!
Thank you Melvindale High School Key Club for all that you have done and continue to do for our community, you have brought so much happiness to us all!

For the month of April, Maple Heights would like to introduce to you Sherrill A., Resident of the Month and Simple Wish.
Sherrill, one of our new family members, has always strived to be helpful to anyone she can in any situation.
Sherrill, has been so helpful in our community since she has moved in.
Sherrill is always spending her time helping the Life Enrichment department. Whether it’s helping with ongoing groups or helping to clean up indoors and outdoors, we can always count on Sherrill.
One of Sherrills favorite things to do is gardening and taking care of plants/flowers. It has been a passion of hers most of her life.
For Sherrills Simple Wish, it was an easy decision to provide an entire gardens worth of flowers and plants for her to care for.
Sherrills reaction alone was priceless and is unforgettable.
Knowing that we were able to grant such a Simple Wish for someone so deserving.
We are so blessed to have Sherrill as part of our Maple Heights family and are so excited to be able to share with the world her moments of excitement.
