Melissa A. Feher-Doty

With profound sadness, I share that my beautiful wife of 35 years has passed away at the age of 56. There are no words that can truly capture how unfair this feels, or explain why she was taken after facing so much—first a debilitating illness at 36, and most recently, cancer. She carried more than her share, and she did so with a quiet strength that never stopped showing through. Melissa was the most beautiful person I have ever known, both inside and out. She had a gentle, kind soul and a warmth that made people feel seen, comforted, and cared for. She had a way of bringing calm and love into the lives of those around her, simply by being who she was. She loved our four children with everything she had. They were her world, and she gave them her heart, her time, and her unwavering support. So much of who they are today is a reflection of her love, her guidance, and the example she set every single day. Melissa also had a deep compassion for all living things—especially rabbits, dogs, cats, and every furry creature that crossed her path. She saw something special in them, and they seemed to sense the kindness in her right away. Caring for others, in every form, was simply part of her nature. Even through the hardest times, she continued to show love, patience, and resilience. That is how I will always remember her—not defined by her illness, but by her strength, her kindness, and the love she gave so freely. She will be deeply missed in ways that words can’t fully express, but she will never be forgotten. Melissa lives on in my heart, and in the lives, memories, and love of our four incredible children. Her presence, her spirit, and her love and spirit will always be with us.

I'd like to share where we would like donations sent. Rather than flowers for her celebration of life, she would love it if people could consider donating to The Midwest Rabbit Rescue, https://rb.gy/zpesvd for lung cancer research or https://gofund.me/6a78a9e9e

My mom loved her bunnies so much. Ever since I was 7, mom has helped me raise 9 rabbits. I recently got my new friend Harry, and unfortunately, I wasn't able to introduce him to her before she passed. I know she would have loved him so much.

Thank you all.

Melissa is the Beloved wife of Scott. Loving mother of David, Jack, Jillian and Megan Doty. Dear sister of Sherie (Dale) Quinton and the late Joseph Feher.

To honor Melissa's request, cremation will take place.

Donald R. Cunningham

Donald Ray Cunningham was born in southern Illinois on January 18, 1940, and died on June 7, 2026. He was the second son of Bessie (Calloway), who went by Peggy, and Carl Cunningham. Peggy was from a poor sharecropping family that lost their father early and gained an unfriendly stepfather, but Carl had a wealthy spinster aunt who sent him to Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, where he competed on the track team for one year before flunking out and coming back home. Carl was 24 when he married Peggy (16). When Don was 9 years old, his family moved to Warren, Michigan, so that Carl could work for the automobile industry, and Don’s family lived in a garage-like building without an indoor toilet for quite some time while Carl built the house they would eventually move into. Don attended Fitzgerald High School in Warren, and reminisced into old age about one of his best friends, Eddie, from that time. He met his future wife, Karen Zimmer, at the Tastee Freeze where Karen worked in high school, but she was too young to be interested in him at that time. As a teenager, Don loved the movies of real-life World War II hero Audie Murphy, described as the most highly decorated enlisted soldier in American history. He wanted to drop out of high school to join the Army and be a war hero like Audie, but Carl told him that he wouldn’t sign the form until Don graduated from high school, so Don graduated first, then served in the Army between the Korean and Vietnam wars, primarily in Europe. He told us how he fell asleep next to a tree one night while on guard duty and woke up in the morning just a few feet from tank tracks that rumbled past him without waking him up, attesting to the deep sleep Don was able to routinely enter. Don talked occasionally about his war buddies, including ‘Tiny’, who was, of course, a giant man, whereas Don was only 118 pounds despite being 6’1 1/2” tall. His platoon mates told him that they would send him sideways into enemy lines with a machine gun because the enemy wouldn’t be able to hit him with such a small cross-section. Upon returning from service, Don again became smitten with Karen, and she agreed to go on a double date with him. They married in February 1963 and had their first son, Gregory Scott (whom Carl called ‘Great Scott’) in January 1964. Kateri Lynn (named after the first Native American Catholic Saint, Kateri Tekawitha) followed just 15 months later, and in August 1970, Randall Dean completed the family. Don graduated from Eastern Michigan University with a bachelor’s degree in education (Spanish minor) following in the footsteps of his older brother, Ray. He enjoyed taking some classes in Mexico where he practiced his Spanish. Don cared about his elementary school students well-being and was often given the most challenging students in the grade, sometimes bringing students home for dinner when their family life was chaotic and he was worried about them. Don liked to stay busy (except for when he was napping) and rarely watched TV. The exception was Star Trek, which was the only show allowed on at the dinner table. But, he enjoyed telling stories, giving slide shows at holidays to his kids and grandkids, and musing about the vastness of outer space, the nature of life that must exist in other parts of the universe, and the possibility of life after death. He also loved to belt out his favorite songs, including ‘Swing Low Sweet Chariot’ and ‘Amazing Grace’, laughing as he failed to hit most of the notes. As a young father, he took his family on numerous summer vacations in their pop-up camper, often to the ocean, and his young family lived by the ocean in Lompoc, CA, for one year in the mid 1960’s. He instilled a love of nature, science, and travel in his children and grandchildren, demonstrated a commitment to hard work and his family, and supported all of us unconditionally. When his wife, Karen, was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in her 30s, she was able to live a normal life due to Don’s assistance and support, which she was very grateful for. Late in life, Don was excited about the new discoveries of ‘habitable’ planets around other solar systems, and he attended conferences where he heard about people’s life-after-death experiences. His interest in travel waned a bit as his interest in the stock market increased, but he was always willing to join an extended family trip, and there were many trips to various parts of the country, including Michigan, California, Colorado, Hawaii and the Caribbean. Don was a humble, caring, and thoughtful father, grandfather, and husband, generous in every sense of the word, and we will all miss him terribly, but we are glad that his journey here on Earth ended peacefully and on his terms, by choosing hospice care and having family with him. We will be listening and looking for any sign that his spirit continues to exist, since if anybody was motivated to come back and tell us about a wonderful life after death, it would be our Dad.

Don was the beloved husband of Karen and the loving father of Teri (John) Simonds, Randy (Holly) Cunningham and Greg (Andrea) Cunningham. Dear brother of Jim (Evelyn) and the late Ray (late Marie) Cunningham. Grandfather of Gwynn (Connor) St. John, Hannah Cunningham, Allison Cunningham (Chris Ryan), Daniel (Hannah) Cunningham, Libby Cunningham, Sean Cunningham and Isabella Simonds. Great grandfather of Camden and Julian St. John and Brett Cunningham.

Dennis A. Marcos

Age 75, June 8, 2026. Beloved husband of the late Renee. Loving father of Kristi MacDonald and Matt (Abby Pitt) Marcos. Dearest brother of Dale (Carol) Marcos and Christine (Tom) Schultz. Dear grandfather of Alyssa, Mia, Katelyn, Jonathan, Isabella, Elliana and Grayson. Also survived by his faithful companions Vito, Daisy and Rosie.

Dennis was happiest when he was surrounded by the people, places, and things he loved.

A lifelong Allen Park resident, he was born and raised in the city and was proud to spend his life serving the community he cared so deeply about. One of his proudest accomplishments was his time on the City Council, where he had the opportunity to give back to the city he always called home.

Music was a huge part of Dennis's life. He loved playing guitar, collecting guitars, and sharing that passion with others. He especially enjoyed building cigar box guitars and bringing them to local street fairs, where he could connect with people and share something he had created.

Some of his favorite memories were made at the family cottage on Grand Lake. Whether he was out on the boat, watching the sunset over the water, or simply spending time with family and friends, those were the moments that brought him peace and happiness. He also had a special place in his heart for his dogs and cat, whose companionship meant so much to him over the years.

More than anything else, Dennis loved his family. He was incredibly proud of his children and the lives they built, and he took great joy in following the adventures, activities, and accomplishments of his grandchildren.

In his final years, Dennis faced a difficult battle with cancer. While the journey was not easy, he met it with the same determination and stubbornness that those who knew him would recognize immediately. Through it all, he remained deeply grateful for the support of his family, friends, and community.

Dennis will be remembered for his sense of humor, creativity, love of music, and the genuine care he showed for the people around him. He leaves behind countless memories and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Visitation Saturday, June 13, 2026, from 11 am until time of Memorial Service 2:00 pm at Weise Funeral Home, 7210 Park Ave., Allen Park, MI 48101.

Timothy J. Rozanski

Age 63. Loving partner of Catherine Marie Rios. Dear brother of Susan (William) Napoleone, late Cathy Ann Rozanski, Walter (Carol), Ronald (Suzi), Richard (Deanne), Jerome (Laurie) and Michael (Karen) Rozanski. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents Walter and Emily Rozanski. Tim passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of dedication, friendship, and cherished memories. In his later years, he faced a difficult battle with Parkinson’s disease, which progressed rapidly. Throughout his illness, he demonstrated remarkable courage, determination, and resilience. For 40 years, he built a distinguished career as a Systems Engineer in Mainframe Operations Management at Ford Motor Company, where his expertise, professionalism, and commitment earned the respect of colleagues and friends alike.

A devoted member of the Father Saylor Knights of Columbus for 35 years, he was actively involved in the council’s bowling and golf leagues, forming lasting friendships through his participation and service. His faith, fellowship, and community involvement were important parts of his life.

He found great joy in the outdoors and loved spending time camping with family and friends. At home, he shared a special bond with his beloved cat, Kawa, affectionately known as "Kitty Kitty," who brought him years of companionship and happiness. He was also known for his love of cooking where he would prepare his famous ribs and brisket on his grill and smoker. He took particular pride in roasting whole pigs for special occasions. One of his greatest sources of pride was his Mustang Convertible. Whether cruising on a sunny day or carefully maintaining it, the car reflected his appreciation for both craftsmanship and adventure. A passionate fan of University of Michigan football, he was a season ticket holder for many years and rarely missed an opportunity to cheer on the Wolverines. Saturdays in the fall were often spent supporting his team with enthusiasm and pride. His familiar rallying cry, “Go Blue!” will be fondly remembered by those who knew him. Tim will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all whose lives he touched. His warmth, loyalty, sense of humor, and love for the simple pleasures in life leave a lasting legacy that will not be forgotten. Though Parkinson’s disease brought significant challenges in his final years, it never diminished the impact he had on those around him or the love he shared with family and friends.

Go Blue!

Vallarie Doherty

Vallarie Doherty was born on February 21, 1935 and passed away on May 19, 2026 after a long and full life of 91 years.

Beloved wife of the late Robert Doherty. Loving mother of Robert (Carrie) Doherty, Deborah (late Tim) Moats, David (Lisa) Doherty, Timothy (Michelle) Doherty, Susan (Ronald) Pattenaude, Patrick (Paula) Doherty, Jerene (Jeffrey) Koenig, Delisle (Lila) Doherty, Delilah Milne, Faith (James) Danosky, late Catherine (Paul) Schlabach and Christopher Doherty. Also survived by 32 Grandchildren, 56 Great Grandchildren and 6 Great Great Grandchildren. Preceded in death by her 1 brother and 4 sisters.

Vallarie often spoke fondly of her happy childhood with her parents, Ernest and Josephine. Even as a child, Vallarie experienced sore legs, and her parents lovingly cared for her - rubbing them to ease her pain. Her father would wrap her ankles so she could enjoy skating.

At the young age of 17, she married Delisle Lodico. Tragically, this marriage ended with Delisle's death, leaving Vallarie at just 24 years old to raise her children on her own for several years. In time, she found love again with Robert Doherty, who had three sons. Together, they had one son and raised 12 children under one roof.

After their children were grown, Vallarie and Bob enjoyed several happy years filled with fun and travel. Sadly, Bob passed away in 1996, leaving Vallarie to once again face life's challenges on her own. True to her nature, she proved to be a survivor, continuing to find joy in life despite her losses.

Vallarie was the youngest of six children so after Bob's death she devoted herself to caring for her older siblings, all of whom preceded her in death. Over the years, she endured many hardships, including the loss of her youngest daughter Cathy and her third grandson Austin. In her 80's she experienced another type of loss, that of her health and independence. After moving in with her adult children, she found great happiness in her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren, making a special effort to stay connected with them.

Vallarie will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Visitation for Vallarie will be from 1:00pm - 8:00pm Monday, June 1, 2026 at Weise Funeral Home, 7210 Park, Allen Park (313-382-1150).

Funeral service will begin at 6:30pm Monday, June 1, 2026 at Weise Funeral Home.

Curtis Brooks, Sr.

Curtis Brooks — devoted husband, father, grandfather, mentor, entrepreneur, man of faith, and storyteller without equal — passed away on April 26, 2026, in Michigan, where he spent his final years close to his son’s family. He was 87. Born December 16, 1938, in Lexington Mississippi to Willie and Nell Brooks, Curtis came of age in Chicago Heights, where he graduated from Bloom High School. It was there that he met Bertha, his high school sweetheart - a partnership that would shape the next sixty years. They were married in 1962. Curtis attended Southern Illinois University before serving in the United States Army. The experience became part of the fabric of his identity. He spoke often with unmistakable pride, humor, and gratitude, and the stories became legend. Curtis built his career in the restaurant equipment industry. He started in the Chicago suburbs working for General Electric but was soon transferred to Cincinnati where he earned numerous achievement awards and established himself as a gifted salesman. He and Bertha raised their son there, Curtis Jr., until 1980, before being relocated to Dublin Ohio, where Curtis would live for the next forty-five years. After GE Curtis stepped into entrepreneurship as a founding partner of DRC Marketing Group before later launching Advantage Equipment Corporation. Through both ventures, he became a trusted advisor and supplier to major restaurant brands, including KFC and Yum! Brands. Curtis built his reputation the same way he built relationships — personally, faithfully, and over time. Among the professional relationships he treasured most was his friendship with Dave Thomas, founder of Wendy's, a connection he carried with genuine pride throughout his life. A man of deep and enduring faith, Curtis was a longtime member of New Salem Baptist Church, where he served faithfully for many years as a Trustee and member of the Usher Board. The church was not simply a place he attended; it was central to how he lived. He believed deeply in encouraging others, especially young men beginning their professional and spiritual journeys. Through mentorship programs, church leadership, personal counsel, and quiet acts of generosity, Curtis invested himself in people. He carried a Psalm 23 pendant in his pocket nearly every day of his life, drawing strength and comfort from the words that anchored his faith. Curtis was, above all, a storyteller. He did not merely tell stories — he performed them. He acted them out, walked listeners through every detail, and made you feel as though you had been standing beside him the entire time. His personality filled every room he entered. Gregarious, jolly, endlessly optimistic, and armed with a tireless work ethic, Curtis had a rare ability to make people feel seen and encouraged. He believed in “building your brand,” in perseverance, and in carrying the Brooks name with pride and integrity. He took tremendous pride in his grandchildren and loved celebrating their accomplishments and who they were becoming. He was an avid sports fan, especially devoted to the Chicago Bears, and loved the game of golf — perhaps practicing even more than playing. His devotion to Bertha was the great work of his life. He cared for her through her final years with patience, tenderness, and unwavering love until her passing in 2022. When Curtis later moved to a senior living community in 2023, that same caregiving instinct simply found new ground. Even as a resident himself, he became known for checking in on fellow residents, lifting spirits, offering encouragement, and looking after others. More often than not, he was the one giving care rather than receiving it. It was who he was to the very end. Curtis is survived by his son, Curtis Brooks Jr.; daughter-in-law, Julie Brooks; grandchildren, Bennett and Grace; sisters, Rose Sims and Anna Turner; and a wide circle of nieces, nephews, friends, church members, and the many young people he mentored throughout his life. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Bertha, and his parents, Willie and Nell Brooks. A Memorial Service and reception celebrating the life of Curtis Brooks will be held on Thursday, June 18, at 11:00 a.m. at: Wedgewood Golf & Country Club – 9600 Wedgewood Blvd. Powell, OH 43065 Curtis will be laid to rest at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly Michigan In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made in memory of Curtis Brooks to either the McDaniel Pitts Scholarship Fund or the New Salem Logos Endowment Fund. McDaniel Pitts Scholarship Fund New Salem Logos Endowment Fund Donations may be mailed to: The Columbus Foundation 1234 East Broad Street Columbus, Ohio 43205 Please specify the designated fund and indicate that the donation is being made in memory of Curtis Brooks. “Build your brand. Never, ever give up. Trust Jesus.”
