It’s time for another Wonderful Worker Friday at Therapyland!

Today we’re highlighting one of our amazing BCBA’s at our Kennesaw location, Kirsten!

Originally from Washington, DC, she loves hanging out with her kids, watching anime/reading manga, and traveling!

Her favorite part of the job? Parent training and pairing with her kiddos to help build strong connections and meaningful growth.

Fun fact: Her childhood dream was simply to be a mom, and that passion for supporting children and families led her to ABA.

When asked what she loved most about her career, she responded, “I originally went back to college to study ABA to help support my own son who has autism. Once I started working in the field, I met so many incredible kiddos who just needed a little extra support to flourish, and I loved being able to make a difference in their lives.”

With nearly 7 years as a BCBA, she brings compassion, collaboration, and dedication to every family she serves. We’re so grateful for her passion for helping our kiddos, supporting families, and being such a valued part of the Therapyland team!

It's time for another Therapy Tool Thursday with Therapyland!

Today we're highlighting the "First, then" board.

A First, Then Board is a simple visual support that helps children understand routines, transitions, and expectations in a clear and encouraging way.

By showing what comes first and what comes next, it can make daily tasks feel more manageable and motivating!

Whether used at home, in school, or during therapy sessions, visual supports like these can help create structure, confidence, and smoother transitions throughout the day.

Small tools can make a big difference!

Let’s talk visuals!

Visual supports are a game changer in ABA—they turn information into something concrete, clear, and easier to understand.

From visual schedules to token boards, visuals help break down tasks, show expectations, and guide learners step-by-step.

Why does this matter? Because visuals can:

•Improve communication and understanding
•Reduce anxiety by creating predictability
•Support independence and confidence
•Encourage positive behaviors and smoother transitions

At Therapyland, we love using creative, individualized visuals to make learning engaging and meaningful for every client.

Wrapping up OT Month at Therapyland with our final OT Q&A post!

Therapyland Occupational therapist, Eleanor, answers a common question: How does occupational therapy support ABA?

Eleanor says, "OT helps build the foundational skills that make learning possible—things like fine motor skills, sensory regulation, attention, and independence in daily routines.

When these skills are stronger, it’s easier for children to participate, engage, and succeed during ABA sessions."

Together, OT + ABA work hand-in-hand to support the whole child—combining skill-building with meaningful, functional progress.

We love collaborating to help every child reach their full potential ✨

All month long, our Therapyland OTs have been answering popular questions about OT, and today, Occupational therapist Emily is sharing her insight on building independence!

Independence starts with the little things—getting dressed, helping with simple chores, and being part of everyday routines.

These small moments create big opportunities for growth over time.

Emily reminds us that progress matters more than perfection. By meeting each child where they are, offering support, and gradually fading that help, we build confidence that lasts.
