Human connection is everything to me and it’s what keeps me going as a small business owner.
It’s given me what money never could, feeling less alone.

I received the most beautiful card today from a longtime customer wishing my husband well after his heart surgery.

As if that wasn’t emotional enough, they went on to share the story of the gentleman’s wife. She was a Gold Star wife who lost her husband in Vietnam, and she herself went on to serve as a nurse practitioner at the VA for more than 30 years.

These are our people. 🇺🇸

We feel such a deep connection to them, and we are so incredibly touched by the love they’re showing us during this time, especially knowing all they’ve been through in life and all they’ve given in service to others.

This couldn’t have come at a better time, as we’re building beautiful baskets of Opu Probiotics samples for our local VA offices, along with Hope Heals & some other local nursing homes and recovery homes.

These are the things that keep you in the game as a small business owner.

💚 We want to give back to our community and we need your help!

This is me and my Dad, a U.S. Veteran and the best Dad ever. In just a few weeks, we will celebrate five years of building Opu Probiotics together. 🥹

When we started this company five years ago, we had no idea where it would take us. Our biggest accomplishment in that 5 years is our recent launch in over 400 stores across the nation.

We’d love to donate baskets of Opu packets to local nonprofits, nursing homes, shelters, transitional housing programs, food assistance organizations, veterans organizations, recovery organizations or other facilities that serve people who could benefit from better gut health.

Because the truth is, "gut health" isn’t at the top of the list for someone who is struggling to put food on the table, recovering from addiction, transitioning into stable housing or simply trying to get through a difficult season of life. But the problem is, better overall health STARTS IN THE GUT.

So I’m asking my local North Georgia (We are in Ballground, Georgia) community:

Today was a huge milestone for Opu Probiotics - our very first line review at Walmart Headquarters, where we also pitched a potential product extension.

We left feeling incredibly encouraged! We’ve experienced nothing but genuine support from Walmart for our small business.

Do they have high expectations for their vendors? Absolutely. But they also invest in helping small businesses succeed and today was another reminder of that!

Today was a really good day. 💚

As a cancer survivor, my mission to help others understand exactly what they’re putting inside of their body is something I NEED to do as a founder.

Will it help us sell more product? Possibly.
But more than anything, I truly hope it helps people make more wise decisions with what they consume - especially when it comes to their GUT.

You wouldn’t believe how many times I have heard, “Oh, that’s a laxative?!” or “I think I just need a cleanse to clear everything out”.

Fun fact, most “cleanses” are simply laxatives marketed as something healthy. Don’t believe me? Check the main ingredient.

And no, it won’t say laxative. It may say something that sounds very medical and “safe”. But I encourage you to research that ingredient and see what it actually does in your body.

This is definitely a David versus Goliath situation. Outselling my behemoth competitors (especially on the Walmart shelf) might be close to impossible.

But I’ve (re)set my sights on HELPING & if I know one thing it is that when your heart is in the right place incredibly miraculous things can happen!

P.S. Most people will never know the amount of time and energy Walmart still puts into sourcing Made in the USA 🇺🇸 products, but we’ve experienced it and have benefited from their efforts.

We still have a loooongg way to grow, but thanks to them we have a chance to reach millions!

Most of us (me included ✋) never learned that our “gut” starts at our mouth and ends at the “other end” 😉.

Which means many people continuously medicate issues with their gut health using the same products they have used for years. Oftentimes simply because they are sold by a big company whose name they are familiar with.

How many products are you currently using to treat gut health issues? And, more importantly, do you know what they are doing in your body?

People assume that because I pitched on Shark Tank I have nerves of steel. That couldn't be further from the truth. Anyone who truly knows me knows that I battle anxiety. I pretty much always have.

But at 27 years old I was given the gift of battling, and surviving, cancer. Facing your own mortality at a young age changes your perspective forever. You are never the same as you once were and it made me more courageous.

Last October, we had the privilege of being invited the Walmart Open Call, an event where businesses pitch their products to Walmart buyers. It is specifically focused on Made-in-the-USA 🇺🇸 products, which we are so proud to manufacture in my home state of Georgia.

As we watched speakers from years past, one of the organizers said, "We want to do a few LIVE pitches. Tiffany & Brian from Opu Probiotics, can you join us on stage?" Gulp. 😲

We stood on that stage together and I shared the story of how Opu came to be:

After my cancer battle, my gut was a mess from radiation treatments and antibiotics. My Mom, who was a nurse, was the only one who really figured out what was going on. Her recommendation during that time turned my health around.

A few years after we lost my Mom, my Dad and I set out to provide that same solution to others, manufacturing it right here in our home state of Georgia.

Standing on that stage, I got choked up talking about my Mom, and so did my Dad. It was far from perfect, and my hands were shaking like a leaf holding that mic, but it was our story and I was honored to share it.

The response afterward blew me away.

One person after another approached us over the next two days, sharing their own gut health, cancer, and life stories. Some even yelled out at the airport as we were all leaving. That human connection is EVERYTHING to me. It's truly why I do what I do, and I left Bentonville more inspired and motivated than ever.

The following months were challenging as we figured out HOW we could pull off a launch in 400+ Walmart stores. I am so proud to be on this side of our launch, but the real work has just begun!

This week, we had two GAME-CHANGING meetings. Two meetings that will inevitably change our trajectory with Walmart. I can't wait to tell you the story of THOSE meetings six months from now!

Seeing Opu Probiotics now available at Walmart is a milestone we’ve worked incredibly hard to reach, and we’re just getting started!

We’re currently giving our Walmart listings a fresh new look and I can’t wait to share the updates with you next week!
