Happy National Grandparents Day. Hug em if you got em
In honor of , we're celebrating our Palmer legacy families, which means at least two generations have graduated from Palmer College of Chiropractic.
Our first legacy profile is on Perry Webb, D.C. (Florida, '18). Despite having a grandfather, great uncles and great-grand parents who all graduated from Palmer College, Perry never thought becoming a chiropractor was in his future.
He remembers hearing the amazing story about his grandfather, William P. Webb II, who became paralyzed as a young child with spinal meningitis. It wasn't until his family started incorporating chiropractic care into his rehabilitation plan, that he saw improvements, eventually regaining the ability to walk.
"It was pretty miraculous, especially at that time," says Perry.
But for the longest time, Perry's sights were set on football. He was in his senior year of high school, working to get recruited to play college football, when he says he had a vivid dream that completely changed the course of his life.
"My grandfather appeared in my dream and basically told me that he was going to be passing away soon and he wanted me to take over his business. I woke up and I felt so compelled to take action on my grandfather's words. I actually never told him about the dream, but I called the football recruiters immediately and told them that I was no longer interested in pursuing college ball."
He enrolled at and when the time came he was accepted to Palmer Florida. Sadly, his grandfather wasn't able to witness Perry proudly walking across the stage at his graduation. Perry was in his 4th quarter when his grandfather passed away.
"I was really bummed because in 5th quarter all Palmer students are able to begin adjustments on one another and I was really looking forward to getting his perspective on things as my understanding and knowledge continued to grow. But as I look back on everything, I'm grateful I grew up in a world where being adjusted wasn't taboo. That wasn't always the case for my family who practiced. I get fired up knowing I'm helping people, and I know it's the same feeling my grandpa had as well."
Perry and his girlfriend, Paola, also a Palmer Florida alumnus, will soon open their practice together in the Altamonte Springs/Longwood area.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Perry!
