Meet Dr. Steven Dobson, Optometrist at Dimond Vision Clinic 💚

"I, along with my two daughters, Kristin and Lauren, and son-in-law Michael, will see how many 2.2-mile trips up the north face we can climb between the hours of 9 AM and 7 PM. My goal will be to ascend the mountain five times.

The primary purpose of my participation is to support the efforts of LEWK, an Alaska-based nonprofit organization dedicated to raising awareness, promoting local education about gynecological cancers, and providing support for women who have been diagnosed with these diseases within our state. Please join me in my efforts to support the very worthwhile and important efforts of LEWK!

The cornea is one of the most important parts of your eye. It's the clear, protective front layer that helps focus light so you can see clearly.

Interestingly, shark corneas are structurally so similar to ours that researchers have studied them as a potential resource for corneal transplants and eye surgery. 👀

Ever noticed a raised, fleshy growth on the white of the eye? That could be a pterygium - a benign (noncancerous) growth that can extend onto the cornea and, over time, affect vision if left unchecked.

Common causes include:
☀️ Prolonged UV exposure
💨 Wind and dust
🏜️ Dry environments
