🦴🏥 When Non-Surgical Treatments Are Not Enough 🏥🦴

At Mobility Bone & Joint Institute, conservative orthopaedic care is often the first step toward recovery. Many injuries and joint conditions can improve without surgery through personalized treatment plans focused on reducing pain, restoring mobility, and improving strength.

Non-surgical treatment options may include:
• Physical therapy to improve strength and flexibility
• Anti-inflammatory medications for pain relief
• Bracing or supportive devices for joint stability
• Activity modification and guided rest
• Corticosteroid or regenerative medicine injections

While these treatments are highly effective for many patients, some orthopaedic conditions may continue to cause pain, weakness, or limited movement despite conservative care. In these situations, further evaluation may be necessary to determine the best next steps for long-term recovery.

Signs it may be time to see an orthopaedic specialist include:
• Persistent pain that does not improve with treatment
• Joint instability or repeated injuries
• Difficulty walking, standing, or bearing weight
• Severe stiffness or loss of motion
• Numbness, weakness, or nerve-related symptoms
• Injuries preventing return to work, sports, or daily activities

Early orthopaedic evaluation can help prevent further joint damage, improve treatment outcomes, and support a faster recovery. At Mobility Bone & Joint Institute, our specialists work closely with each patient to create individualized care plans designed to restore comfort, function, and quality of life.

Whether you are recovering from an injury or dealing with chronic joint pain, expert orthopaedic care can help you safely return to the activities you enjoy most.

🦴🏥 Understanding Orthopaedic Injuries 🏥🦴

Orthopaedic injuries can affect the body’s bones, joints, muscles, ligaments, tendons, and other important structures that support movement and stability. These injuries may happen suddenly because of trauma or develop gradually over time from repetitive stress and overuse. At Mobility Bone & Joint Institute, our orthopaedic specialists help patients identify the source of pain and create personalized treatment plans focused on recovery and long-term mobility.

Common orthopaedic injuries include:
• Torn ligaments, including ACL tears
• Severe fractures and broken bones
• Rotator cuff tears in the shoulder
• Meniscus tears and cartilage damage
• Spinal conditions causing nerve compression
• Advanced arthritis affecting joint function
• Chronic tendon injuries
• Joint instability or recurrent dislocations

Symptoms of orthopaedic injuries may include:
• Persistent pain or swelling
• Weakness or instability
• Reduced range of motion
• Difficulty walking or bearing weight
• Stiffness that interferes with daily activities
• Numbness or tingling related to nerve compression

While many orthopaedic conditions improve with conservative care such as physical therapy, medication, rest, or supportive bracing, some injuries may continue to cause pain and mobility limitations despite treatment. In these cases, advanced orthopaedic evaluation can help determine the next steps toward healing and recovery.

At Mobility Bone & Joint Institute, we are committed to helping patients regain strength, improve function, and return to the activities they enjoy with comprehensive orthopaedic care tailored to each individual’s needs.

🧘‍♂️🦴 3 Simple Stretches to Relieve Sciatica Pain 🦴🧘‍♀️

Sciatica pain can cause discomfort that radiates from the lower back through the hips and down the leg, making everyday movement difficult. Gentle stretching and mobility exercises may help reduce tension, relieve pressure on the sciatic nerve, and improve flexibility. At Mobility Bone & Joint Institute, we encourage safe movement and personalized care to help patients manage pain and improve mobility.

Here are 3 simple stretches that may help relieve sciatica pain:

1️⃣ Knee-to-Chest Stretch
• Lie on your back with legs extended
• Bend one knee and gently pull it toward your chest
• Hold for 30 seconds, then switch legs
✔️ Helps relieve pressure on the sciatic nerve by stretching the lower back and glutes

2️⃣ Figure 4 Stretch (Piriformis Stretch)
• Lie on your back and cross the ankle of the affected leg over the opposite knee
• Gently pull the bottom leg toward your chest
• Hold for 20–30 seconds, then switch sides
✔️ Targets the piriformis muscle, which can place pressure on the sciatic nerve

3️⃣ Sciatic Nerve Glides (Nerve Flossing)
• Sit upright in a chair and slowly straighten the affected leg
• Point toes toward you while gently moving the ankle up and down 15–20 times
✔️ Helps improve nerve mobility, reduce irritation, and promote circulation

Important reminders:
• Stop immediately if pain, numbness, or tingling worsens
• Avoid overstretching or forcing movements
• Perform stretches slowly and gently
• Speak with a medical professional or physical therapist for proper diagnosis and treatment guidance

If sciatica pain continues to interfere with your daily life, the specialists at Mobility Bone & Joint Institute are here to help with personalized spine and pain management care designed to improve comfort and mobility.
