Important Update: Gas-X Recall & Ultrasound Preparation

The FDA has announced a recall of certain Gas-X Extra Strength Softgels due to potential chemical contamination caused by a packaging equipment issue. The concern involves possible contamination from a machine leak during the manufacturing process.

If you have Gas-X at home, please check the packaging and review the FDA recall information to determine if your product is affected. Do not use any recalled products.

As a result of this recall, Arcata Animal Hospital will no longer recommend administering Gas-X prior to abdominal ultrasound appointments.

For pets scheduled for an abdominal ultrasound:
✔ No food after 9:00 PM the night before the procedure
✔ Water is still permitted unless otherwise instructed by our team

If you have an upcoming ultrasound appointment and have questions about preparation, please contact us. Our team is happy to help ensure your pet is properly prepared for their procedure.
