🔥LET’S TALK ABOUT BIOFILM!🔥
Biofilms are known to protect microorganisms from the immune system and from certain antimicrobial treatments. The biofilms are formed by the bacteria, parasites, or protozoa themselves as a means of hiding out safely in their host. While the role of biofilms in EPM and Lyme has not been fully established, we believe they deserve further investigation.
After working with horses affected by EPM and Lyme, we’ve noticed a recurring pattern. Many horses improve with conventional EPM medications, yet some later experience a return of clinical signs. Many horses with Lyme are just labeled as “chronic” because the bacteria is antibiotic resistant. This has led us to ask whether something beyond the protozoa or bacteria itself may be contributing to persistent disease, and overall inflammation.
The greatest possibility is biofilm!
The biofilm issue also applies to lungs, where the bacteria, fungal and mold spores can form biofilm and hide from the immune system, and conventional meds.
In our experience, adding Ozonated Glycerin Gel to a horse’s treatment protocol has often coincided with improved outcomes, particularly in horses that had previously plateaued or relapsed. We hypothesize that its biofilm-disrupting properties may help expose microorganisms that were previously protected, allowing them to be more effectively eliminated.
Anja O3 To Go contains High Potency Ozonated glycerin as its main ingredient.
