Linda Kay Green

Linda Kay Green, age 72, of Ashland City, Tennessee, passed away on Saturday, September 5, 2026, at her home. She was born in Nashville, Tennessee, on August 30, 1954. Linda ran a daycare out of her home and later worked as a teacher’s aide at Cheatham County High School. She is preceded in death by her husband, Ronnie Green; father, Fred Shivers; mother, Louise (Krantz) Shivers Williams; step-father, Doyle Williams; brother, Kenneth Shivers; sister, Sue Ann Balthrop; and grandson, David Chambliss. She is survived by her son, Gregory Wayne Green; daughter, Misty Michelle Green; brothers, Bobby Shivers and Mike Shivers; sister, Wilmatean “Tennie” Shivers Smock; grandson, Nathan Pharris (Kat); and great grandchildren, Hadalee Oliver and Oaklynn Chambliss. Funeral service will be Wednesday, September 9, 2026, at 6pm in the Chapel of Cheatham County Funeral Home with Gerald Prior and Tony Langston officiating. Glenn D. Biggs

Glenn D. Biggs, 75, passed away on Saturday, September 5, 2026, at Centennial Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee. Born on December 6, 1950, in Nashville, he was the son of the late Joe C. Biggs and Serena Elizabeth (Travis) Biggs. Glenn was Constable for the 2nd District of Cheatham County for many years and volunteer fireman for the Cheatham County Rescue Squad, holding the title of Assistant Unit Director, previously worked at Roger’s Manufacturing for over 30 years and retired as a road maintenance worker number 2 for the State of Tennessee. He loved to fish and watch westerns. He was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and favorite uncle to his many nieces and nephews, who will be deeply missed.

Preceding him in death are his parents, Joe and Serena Biggs; wife of 55 years, Sherry (Taylor) Biggs; brothers, B.F. Biggs, Richard Biggs, Roy D. Biggs, Joe W. Biggs and John Henry Biggs; and sisters, Sue Dunn, Nancy Sanders, Shirley Louallen, Audrey Comperry, and Baby “Sissy” Biggs; and grandson, Harley Tisdale. He is survived by his daughters, Theresa Tisdale (John) and Kathy Clements (Danny); grandchildren: Daniel Clements (Lindsey), Kenneth Crowson (Crystal), Kayla Clements (James), Kimberly Riddell (Eric), and Brandon Tisdale; great grandchildren, Scott Crowson (Briana), Sierra Riddell, Myah Clements, Jaxson Clements, Carlie Jones, Chloe/Zoey Johnson, and Haislee Tisdale; great-great-grandchildren, Elijah “Maverick” Crowson, Theodora Crowson and Raven Crowson; and brother, Fred C. Biggs (Pat); and several nieces and nephews, and his faithful companion Big Boy.

Funeral service will be Friday, September 11, 2026, at 1pm in the Chapel of Cheatham County Funeral Home with Derek Wright officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Springs Cemetery in Ashland City, Tennessee. Visitation will be Thursday, September 10th from 3pm to 7pm and on Friday before the service from 11am until service hour of 1pm. Pallbearers will be Jody Biggs, Doug Demidio, D.J. William "Bill" Wallace Green, Jr.

William “Bill” Wallace Green, Jr., age 82, of Joelton, Tennessee, passed away on Friday, September 4, 2026, at his home. Born on August 14, 1944, in Nashville, Tennessee, he was the son of the late William Wallace Green, Sr., and Elsie Mai (Baggett) Green. He served in the United States Army and later retired from the Air National Guard. Bill was Chief of Military Police for the 118th at Berry Field and also served as a Vanderbilt police officer. A faithful member of Friendship Free Will Baptist Church in Ashland City, Tennessee, he cherished his wife and family above all else and found joy in preaching the Word of God. Bill is preceded in death by his parents, William and Elsie Green; and sisters, Charlene Brown and JoAnn Hardin. He is survived by his devoted wife, Marilyn (Harris) Green; son, James “Jamie” Walter Green (Barbara); daughters, Tina Johnson (Mike) and Gina Redmon; sister, Alice Faye Bedwell; grandchildren, Andrina Overby (T.J.), Dylan Green (Nevada), Spencer Johnson, Keli Howard (Kaleb), Joseph Hulton, Samuel Hulton (Robin), Elizabeth Cowley (Matt), and Conner Green; and 18 great grandchildren. Funeral service will be Wednesday, September 9, 2026, at 10am with Brother Randall Wright and SMSGT Donna Williams officiating in the Chapel of Friendship Free Will Baptist Church in Ashland City, Tennessee. Burial will follow with military honors in Friendship Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, September 8, 2026 at the funeral home from 1pm to 7pm and resume at the church on Wednesday from 9am until service hour of 10am. Kenneth "Ken" William Ellis

Kenneth “Ken” William Ellis, age 86, of Joelton, Tennessee, passed away on Wednesday, September 3, 2026, at Riverview Post Acute in Ashland City, Tennessee. He was born on November 24, 1939, in Detroit, Michigan, to the late John Conroy Ellis and Vivan Villa Ellis. Ken was an antique dealer at flea markets. He was a talented pool shark and enjoyed gardening, especially ginseng. He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Vivan Ellis; son, Victor Ellis and great grandson, Wolfe Ellis. Ken is survived by his sons, Anthony and Jason Ellis; brother, Larry Ellis; grandchildren, Alex Fox Ellis, Sasha Ellis Pinkerton, and Tysen Ellis; and great grandchildren, Luke Pinkerton, Logan Pinkerton, Toby Pinkerton, Sunni Ellis, Sylvia Ellis and Jackson Ellis. His wishes were to be cremated and a memorial gathering will be held at a later date.

Betty Jean Sweeney

Betty Jean Sweeney, age 84, 2026, of Dickson, Tennessee, passed away at her home on Wednesday, September 2, 2026. She was born in Williamson County, Tennessee, on July 17, 1942, to the late Joe Milton Holt and Saraphine (Ridge) Holt. Betty worked for The Tennessean as an assistant district manager. She is preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Saraphine Holt; daughter, Ginger Louise Sweeney; and sisters, Mary Frances Holt and Jo Ann Yancy. Betty is survived by her sons, John Thomas Sweeney and Timothy Dale Sweeney (Wanda); daughter, Betty Jo Harrison; grandchildren, Jana Buckels (Basil), Tana Dale Sweeney (Jonathan), and Mary Beth Sweeney (Bryson); and great grandchildren, Mykal, Jasmine, Shawn, Chantel, Avery, and Levi. Her wishes were to be cremated and her remains will later be interred at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Franklin, Tennessee.

John "Mac" McClurkan Cobler

John Cobler, age 67, passed away on Sunday, August 30, 2026, at Centennial Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee. John was born in Wise County, Virginia on May 9, 1959, the son of John W. Cobler and Margaret (McClurkan) Cobler. John was a member of Kento Boo Baptist Church in Florence, Kentucky, and graduated from Eastern Kentucky University, where he played football and earned a bachelor’s degree in physical education. He coached football at his alma mater, Boone County High School, and most recently retired as a heavy equipment transporter. In retirement, he enjoyed tinkering, never missed Jeopardy! or The Big Bang Theory, and could quote nearly any movie after watching it once. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Margaret Cobler and granddaughter, Michaela Stehlin. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Rita L. (Pigg) Cobler; children: Meagan Stehlin (Jason), Ian Cobler, Tosha Harris (Chad); LaTasha Howell (Michael), Bronson Herity (Chasity), Blake Herity (Amanda); and grandchildren, Izaak Stehlin, Levi Stehlin, Michael Stehlin, Madelynn Cobler,Tucker Harris, Everly Harris, Sydney Howell, Isabella Howell, Bostyn Howell, Addison Herity, Harper Herity, Kinsley Herity, Owen Herity; and his four-legged buddy, Hoog. James Arthur Fleming

James “Jamie” Arthur Fleming, age 50, of Ashland City, Tennessee, passed away on Tuesday, August 25, 2026. He was born at Tripler Army Medical Center in Honolulu, Hawaii, on October 30, 1975. James worked in customer service. He loved hunting and fishing. James also found great enjoyment with RC cars and airplanes. He is preceded in death by his stepmother, Sarah Fleming. He is survived by his wife, Michelle (Kemp) Fleming; father, Dennis Fleming; mother, Sandra Woodman (Jim); brother, Dennis Fleming, Jr. (Angela); sister, Beth Lancaster; nephew and niece, Jayce Connor Fleming and Jessica Speight (Guy); great nephew, Gage Speight; and beloved dog, Buggsy. Sue Carolyn Nicholson

Sue Carolyn Nicholson age 89 of Ashland City died at her home on Friday August 21, 2026. Sue was born on May 3,1937 on her family farm to parents Ernest and Nancy (Perry) Nicholson. She retired from the State of Tennessee as a keyer. She is preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Nancy Nicholson; and husband, Bobby Nicholson. Sue is survived by her daughter by choice, Kim (Darren) Holt and other extended family members. She formerly attended Ashland City Free Will Baptist Church and Providence Baptist Church in Coopertown and was a member of the Eastern Star of Cheatham County. Sue graduated from Cheatham County High School in 1956 and married Emerson “Bobby” Nicholson in 1957. She was a devoted daughter, wife, and friend, especially to her neighbors, and warmly welcomed new neighbors on Sweethome Road. Sue loved traveling with her Golden Girls. She enjoyed hosting class reunions and entertaining on her farm.

Funeral service will be Sunday, August 23, 2026 at 3pm in the chapel with Randy Hester officiating. Burial will follow in Bethlehem Cemetery in Ashland City, Tennessee. Visitation will be Sunday before the service from 12noon until 3pm.

Serving as active pallbearers will be Josh Jackson, Van Vick, Jesse Barreto, Adam Harris, Darren Holt, Marvis Boyd and Jeffrey Head. Honorary pallbearers are Jerri Ann Head, Candye Vick, Sue Oliver, Ann Binkley, Joyce Drake, Members of the Class of 1956, and her devoted neighbors of Sweethome Road. Johnny Bellar

Johnny Wayne Bellar, age 71, of Ashland City, Tennessee, passed away on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at Riverview Post Acute in Ashland City, Tennessee. He was born on May 18, 1955, in Springfield, Tennessee, to the late Johnnie E. Bellar and Martha L. (Ingram) Bellar. He was a member of Sycamore Chapel Church of Christ in Ashland City, Tennessee. Johnny was a talented musician from a young age, playing with The Cumberland River Boys. His father and uncle both encouraged and inspired him in his musical journey. After high school, Johnny won a dobro competition that led to him performing with The Stonemans. He appeared on “The Grand Ole Opry,” “Hee Haw,” “Nashville Now,” and “The Ralph Emery Show.” He was an original member of The New Tradition and played with them for 3 years before going solo. Johnny remained active in the Nashville area as a songwriter, demo player, and performer. He performed at Opryland, Bluebird Café, and many other local spaces. His music could be heard on commercials for Coke, Diet Coke, Mountain Dew, KFC, Tasty Cake, Dollywood, Ducks Unlimited, Nature’s Own Bread, and many others. He traveled far and wide playing as the opening act for Slim Whitman’s Australian Tour and as a featured performer for the “Masters of the Steel String Guitar.” His most memorable stage performance was at Wimberly Stadium for the Queen of England. Johnny was loved by many and will be greatly missed. Johnny is preceded in death by his parents, Johnnie and Martha Bellar; and niece, Amy Ferry. He is survived by his partner, Marilyn Grace Richardson; sister, Carolyn Ann Baker; niece, Valarie Broadway; and great nephews, Jonathan Broadway, Daniel Broadway, and Alan Ferry. His wishes were to be cremated and no services are planned.
