After more than 40 years of dedicated service to the Ashland community, we celebrate the retirement of Dr. Michael D. Stencel.
Dr. Stencel began his journey in family medicine after graduating from Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine in 1983. He completed his residency in Family Medicine through Wright State University/Dayton Community Hospitals before choosing Ashland as the place where he would build his career and serve generations of families.
Dr. Stencel specifically sought out a small community in which to practice, and Ashland was fortunate to become that home. Throughout his career, he has been a trusted physician, compassionate caregiver and steadfast member of our community. He credits the late Dr. Irvine as an incredible mentor and remains deeply grateful for the opportunity to care for the people of Ashland.
For more than four decades, Dr. Stencel has made a lasting difference, not only through the medicine he practiced, but through the relationships he built with patients, families and colleagues. His commitment to his patients and to the Ashland community is a legacy that will continue long after his retirement.
As he begins this next chapter, Dr. Stencel looks forward to spending more time with his wife, Charmaine, family and friends, while enjoying woodworking and other hobbies he loves.
Dr. Stencel, thank you for more than 40 years of extraordinary service, compassion and dedication. Ashland is a better community because you chose to call it home. We wish you a very happy and well-deserved retirement!
