It's great to see animal care being made more accessible to children with disabilities in Athens County!

On Thursday, children with developmental disabilities gathered at the Swine Arena at the Athens County Fairgrounds for an Inclusive Livestock Show.

Yes!!! Ohio needs to follow suit!! The average wait time at Nationwide is 12-24 MONTHS now…!!! Totally unacceptable.

Illinois has become the first state in the country to create a new pathway allowing specially trained speech-language pathologists to diagnose autism in certain young children.

The change is aimed at children under 3 in Illinois’ Early Intervention Program, where families can face months or even years waiting for an autism evaluation. Under the new law, qualified SLPs with specific autism diagnostic training will be able to provide evaluations alongside the existing medical pathway.

The idea grew from Northwestern University’s “Reduce the Wait” research, which looked at how children could receive answers and support earlier.

For families sitting on long waitlists, another qualified route to diagnosis could mean getting support much sooner.

The law was signed July 10 and is expected to take effect January 1, 2028, following an implementation period.

We were over the moon to spend several hours with the one and only Dr Temple Grandin out at the farm last night! To converse and connect with such a sensitive, gentle soul who loves kids and animals as much as I do, was a life changing experience.

Watching Temple on the ground, brushing my sheep and holding my horses close to her was very moving.. stay tuned for more pictures from photographer Jenny Slack Photography.

Good therapy is a collaboration, between therapist and child, therapist and caregiver, child and caregiver, environment and energy. When these elements align in co-regulation and emotional connection, anything is possible. 🥰🥰
