I started ultrasound school in 2010 after getting laid off from my job as a loan officer at a mortgage company. Funny how that works out. I actually planned to become an OBGYN back in college, got sidetracked, and after that layoff I found my way back to my first love. Real talk, at 30 I just didn't have it in me to go to medical school anymore. So ultrasound it was.
I've scanned every modality out there, but high-risk OB is where I landed and stayed. Every baby is different, every scan is different, structures change, approaches change. It keeps you sharp in a way nothing else does.
Precious Peeks started in February 2021, in the middle of the pandemic, after the doctor I worked for closed his practice. I figured I'd give owning my own thing a shot. It meant more time with my kids and got me closer to my goal of homeschooling both of them full time.
The moments that stick with me the most are the ones where a family was bracing for bad news and everything turned out fine. And the moments where it didn't turn out fine, and I got to be there for that family anyway. I've prayed with patients. I've cried with patients. On the clock, no less.
This isn't just a job to me. I want you to feel that when you're in my exam room. You're not just getting a scan, you're getting someone who actually cares whether you walk out feeling informed, supported, and safe.
That's the whole reason Precious Peeks exists.
