The Tri-County Band recently filled our stage, and the entire theater, with toe-tappin’ marches, patriotic, pop, jazz, even rock as residents kept tempo in their seats. Always a favored concert, we thank this talented group of local musicians for putting smiles on all of our faces once again!

Fresh off their “Dancin’ ‘26” performance with Dain Dance Academy earlier this summer in the Performing Arts Theater, we caught our talented Shannondell Tappers learning a few new steps during a recent class. Taking advantage of our close proximity to Valley Forge National Park, residents enjoyed a Day Trip to the Park’s architectural gem ... the Washington Memorial Chapel. From the stunning stained glass and the beautiful woodwork to the rare statue of a seated George Washington, it was reminder of how lucky we are to be a neighbor to this American historical treasure.

Residents and staff bid farewell to our 250th celebration month with, what else, a patriotic “Backyard Bash” on the Ashcroft patio. Hot dogs and ice cream shared the stage with engaging yard games and fun prizes. As the smiles show, a good time was most definitely had by all. S-a-l-u-t-e!

It’s not every day that a Shannondell resident gets to throw out the first pitch for a baseball game! But that’s exactly what occurred during a recent Day Trip to watch the Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs take on the Columbus Clippers at Coca-Cola Park in Allentown. Congrats to Patti for getting it across the plate ... and starting what turned out to be a real nail-biter going 10 innings with our IronPigs winning 3/2. “Oink on!”

It was a star-spangled week leading up to our 250th celebration at Shannondell. This included a visit from Reggie the Eagle at Elmwood Zoo ... a red-white-and-blue wreath-making workshop for residents ... concerts by Charlie Zahm & Friends, Main Street Brass and pianists Mada & Hugh featuring all-American compositions ... and a lecture by Herb Kaufman on Washington’s Crossing and the Battle of Princeton. And we’re still not done! Concerts, lectures and Great Courses with an All American emphasis continue throughout July and into August. It’s great to be a proud American at Shannondell!
