The gardens. The farmers. The children learning where their food comes from. The meals. The workshops. The community partnerships.

Then there’s the work behind the work.

Building an organization people can trust. Being accountable. Making sure that when someone chooses to give, partner, volunteer, or simply believe in what we’re building, we are doing our part to be worthy of that trust.

That matters to us.

Families caring for the garden together.

Neighbors showing up.

And a garden doing exactly what it was created to do. Serve the community.

Throughout the spring and summer, the Allen Homes Community Garden flourished, and so did the moments happening around it.

Black Farm Street continues to show up every other Friday to provide technical assistance, help with planting, harvesting and garden maintenance, and most importantly, to support the families who are making this space their own.

Now we’re turning the page to a new growing season and there is room for you in this story too. 🌱

If you’re looking for an opportunity to volunteer, serve, learn, or simply put your hands in the soil alongside the Allen Homes community, come grow with us.

Because sometimes the harvest isn’t only what comes out of the ground.

Sometimes it’s the smiles.
The connection.
The community taking care of something together.

That’s the harvest too. 💚

August is for Agriculture in Augusta was a reminder that agriculture is built on relationships, legacy, and service.

We were honored to celebrate Agriculture Month in Augusta while recognizing the Brown family for their enduring contributions to our farming community.

Their example reflects the heart of agriculture. Sharing knowledge, opening doors for others, and helping cultivate a stronger future for the next generation.

At Black Farm Street, we believe every urban farm, every lesson taught, and every partnership formed is another seed sown into our community.

Congratulations to the Brown family, and thank you for helping cultivate a legacy that continues to inspire us all.

Four months ago, we officially launched the Allen Homes Community Garden.

What started as a vision has become a space where neighbors gather, children learn, fresh food grows, and community takes root.

Together, we’ve built raised beds, installed irrigation, added gathering spaces, planted flowers and vegetables, hosted workshops, welcomed volunteers, and watched this garden begin to take on a life of its own.

None of this happens alone. It takes partners who believe in the vision, volunteers who show up, and a community willing to grow together.

We’re grateful to everyone who has played a part in bringing this project to life.

This is more than a garden. It’s an investment in people, education, health, and hope.

Sometimes we get so busy doing the work that we forget to stop and share the journey.

So here’s to everything that’s still growing 🌱💚

Happy Fourth of July!!

For many, today is a day of celebration with family, friends, and community. For others, it's a day of reflection on our nation's history and the work that still lies ahead.

Wherever you find yourself today, we hope you'll take a moment to appreciate the people around you and the communities we continue to build together.

At Black Farm Street, we believe that one of the ways we strengthen our communities is by ensuring people have access to healthy food, educational opportunities, and spaces where everyone belongs.

As we celebrate this Independence Day, we're grateful for the volunteers, partners, supporters, and neighbors who continue to help us cultivate healthier communities across Augusta.
