Memory Care MONDAY!

Another busy, fun-filled week of activity!

Some highlights include:

A FIRE DRILL evacuation!

Memorial Day Picnic - several residents were able to make it down for the festivities with Alex & family members. I heard all about it on TUESDAY from JoAnn!

We had several patio outings this week. The residents are asking to go out and we are taking advantage of the beautiful weather!

Patricia T's daughter, Tricia has chickens and brings eggs in sometimes to give away. Her & Jen planned a day for her to bring egg salad sandwiches in for the residents - not only did she bring egg salad she brought croissants, chips, fruit salad and chocolates! We had a wonderful time "picnicing" on Friday!

We celebrated May Birthdays today - JoAnn & Gwen - with our traditional birthday photo op and pie! We decorated the ladies' doors with balloons and a birthday sign! So fun!

We also updated out bulletin board up here as it was looking 'tired'. It looks lovely! Also, We've been decorating with Patriotic decor for the summer as well and it's looking festive!

Six months ago we moved our mom out of her home that she built with our dad and our family. Moving into Bardwell Residences has been a Godsend for our mom. First, the warm welcome from the staff was beyond words. The individualized care and concern to make sure that she was settled in and everything in place meant so much to all of us. Second, knowing the staff knows our mom by name, makes Bardwell Residences feel like a home instead of an apartment complex. Third, our mom has already made new friends and has become involved with the daily activities. Lastly, she has moved home to the neighborhood that she grew up in and into the building that she birthed all of her children.

- Center for Achieving Independence Open House
Friday, May 29 at 4:30 p.m. (323 Weston Ave. Suite 220). Come learn more about the Center for Achieving Independence and their meaningful day program supporting neurodiverse adults through independence, confidence building, and community connection.

- Coffee with the Alderman: Join us Saturday, May 30 at 10 a.m. at Society 57 (100 S. River St.) for coffee and conversation with special guests Michaela Haberkern, Executive Director of the Aurora Public Library, and Joseph Sanchez, Library Trustee. They’ll be sharing updates on the exciting West Branch Library expansion and redesign project, fully covered by reserves without raising taxes.

As always, Coffee with the Alderman is also a welcoming space to ask questions, share concerns, or have conversations about anything city-related.

- River Light FC Match Day
Saturday, May 30 at 2 p.m., at Marmion Academy (1000 Butterfield Rd). Come support Aurora’s own River Light FC as they take on Minnesota Aurora FC right here in town!
