Zo’nai has been thru it. She tore her ACL years ago (and had surgery elsewhere) and unfortunately re-tore it recently.

We ended up doing a revision ACL reconstruction using one of the latest techniques, Lateral Extra-Articular Tenodesis (LET), which has been shown to significantly reduce re-rupture rates.

She stayed patient and put in the work with our physical therapy team and now she’s finally back on the court where she belongs. I have no doubt we’ll be seeing her playing college basketball — and maybe even in the WNBA one day.

Really proud of you, Zo’nai.

Hamstring repairs are no joke. These can be some of the most humbling recoveries out there — even for someone in incredible shape, like Ramiro.

I’ve treated a lot of hamstring injuries over the years, and honestly, one of the biggest parts of a successful recovery is setting expectations and having honest conversations upfront about how tough the process can be (even sitting can be difficult).

Ramiro showed up every step of the way, stayed disciplined, and now he’s back to doing the things he loves again.

Awesome seeing all the hard work pay off.

One of Pflugerville’s finest. Kishan battled through a tough knee injury and has been grinding through rehab since December. Now he’s officially fully cleared and ready for the next chapter playing college football at Howard Payne University.

Can’t wait to see what’s ahead for him. Go ball out, Kishan.

One of the things that makes the Austin healthcare community so special is the willingness to learn from each other and continue finding new ways to help patients stay healthy.

Thanks to at for inviting me and Dr. Lewis Tsai to check out their latest recovery and performance technology. Always fun connecting with providers who are passionate about keeping Central Texans active.

Rehab after rotator cuff surgery is one of the toughest journeys in orthopedics. It requires patience, mindset and consistency.

It’s been special to watch Bill, a family friend from my parents’ church, come out the other side stronger than ever. From day one, his attitude never wavered and he trusted the process. Bill is the man!

The instruments we rely on every day don’t just show up—they’re brought to us by an incredible group of professionals who are truly part of the team. Our surgical reps play a bigger role than most people realize.

From last-minute adjustments to keeping everything running smoothly, to reading my mind, our surgical reps are a constant in the OR.

They deal with big personalities, high pressure, and yes…me when I get a little needy.

But what I respect most? They care. A lot.
About the case. About the outcome. About the patient.

That’s what makes them part of the team and some my great friends.

Every year, I look forward to reuniting with my Hawkins Family to share the latest sports medicine “pearls” at our Hawkins Society Annual Meeting.

With over 225 members across the globe—all sharing the distinction of completing their fellowship under the direction of Dr. Richard Hawkins—there is truly nothing like the mentorship and camaraderie found within this group.

Grateful for the insights and the chance to learn from the best in the field!
