After-work lizard time. ☀️🐾
We love this Texas heat… just in small batches. Twenty minutes of sunshine, fresh air, and a couple of happy Weimaraners is all it takes to reset after a busy day. Then it’s back inside where the A/C is doing the Lord’s work. 😅 Sometimes the simplest wellness habits are the most powerful. 🌿🤍

I finally finished my sleeve. 🐝🦋

One of the questions I get asked most is:

“Can I get a tattoo if I have Hashimoto’s?”

The answer isn’t as simple as yes or no.

A tattoo creates a temporary inflammatory response while your skin heals. If you’re in the middle of an autoimmune flare, fighting an illness, severely sleep deprived, or your body is already under significant stress, it may be worth waiting until you’re in a better place to heal.

That’s exactly what I did.

I waited until I felt healthy, prioritized protein, hydration, sleep, and followed my artist’s aftercare instructions.

Living with Hashimoto’s has taught me something important:

Your diagnosis doesn’t mean you stop living. It means you learn how to support your body so you can keep living the life you love.

I couldn’t be happier with how these little pollinators completed my sleeve. 🐝🦋

👇 Tell me…
Have you ever been told you shouldn’t get a tattoo because you have Hashimoto’s or another autoimmune condition?

🦋 Beyond the Diagnosis | Episode 1

One of the hardest parts of being diagnosed with Hashimoto’s isn’t always the diagnosis itself…

It’s what happens after.

You leave the doctor’s office, open your phone, and suddenly you’re overwhelmed by endless advice, scary stories, conflicting opinions, and people telling you everything you should or shouldn’t do.

I’ve been there.

And while those experiences are real, they don’t get to define your story.

A Hashimoto’s diagnosis isn’t the end of your story—it’s the beginning of understanding your body.

It’s an opportunity to ask better questions.

To look at your nutrition.

To support your gut health, stress, sleep, movement, and nutrient status.

To understand your lab work.

To partner with your healthcare team.

To stop guessing and start creating a plan that’s right for you.

As a Functional Nutrition Practitioner, this is where my work begins. I don’t replace your endocrinologist or primary care provider—I work alongside your medical care to help uncover the lifestyle and nutrition factors that may be influencing how you feel.

There is hope beyond the diagnosis. 🦋

💬 So… let’s pretend you’re my newest client.

What was the very first question you had after your diagnosis?

Leave it in the comments. I may answer it in my next Beyond the Diagnosis video.

This weekend reminded me that there isn’t just one path into functional nutrition.

I had the privilege of spending time with incredible practitioners, each with their own unique story and reason for entering this profession. Listening to them made me pause and reflect on my own journey.

I didn’t find functional nutrition because I was looking for a new career.

I found it because I was looking for answers.

Before I was ever a practitioner, I was a client.

I know what it’s like to feel exhausted, frustrated, and overwhelmed. I know what it’s feels like to wonder why your body isn’t cooperating and to hope someone will finally help you understand why instead of simply telling you what to do next.

That experience shaped the way I practice today.

It reminds me to listen first, ask questions, and never forget what it feels like to sit on the other side of the desk.

🦋 So… let’s pretend you’re my newest client.

What’s the first question you’d ask me?

Leave it in the comments. You just might inspire my next video.

Before a weekend focused on connection, I needed a few quiet moments to reconnect with myself. 🌲

As a Functional Nutritionist, I spend a lot of time talking about nutrition, hormones, and gut health. But healing isn’t just about what’s on your plate.

Your nervous system needs moments of safety. Fresh air. Movement. Silence. Space to simply be.

Sometimes the most productive thing you can do is slow down.

What’s one thing you do to help your nervous system recharge? 💚

Some people change your life before you ever meet them in person. ❤️

When I first discovered functional nutrition, I wasn’t a practitioner—I was a client searching for answers. I had the privilege of working with Frankie Leigh Frankie Leigh , who had been trained by Andrea. That experience didn’t just improve my health—it completely changed the direction of my life.

Fast forward to today. After years of learning from Andrea through Zoom, I finally got to meet my mentor, my teacher, and the Functional Nutrition Queen in person.

Standing here feels like such a full-circle moment. From being a client learning what true root-cause healing could look like, to becoming a Functional Nutrition Practitioner myself, and now learning directly from the woman who has inspired and educated so many of us.

Andrea, thank you for your generosity, your wisdom, and your commitment to teaching others. Your impact reaches far beyond the classroom because every practitioner you’ve mentored goes on to change countless more lives.

I’m incredibly grateful for everything you’ve poured into this profession, and I can’t wait to watch you grow Narrative Medicine with the same vision and impact you’ve had on Functional Nutrition.

Sometimes you don’t realize you’re living a full-circle moment until you’re standing right in the middle of it. This was one of those moments. ❤️

✈️ Headed to Colorado for a conference with fellow Functional Nutrition Coaches!

I’m spending the weekend learning from some incredible minds, connecting with other practitioners, and soaking up the latest in functional nutrition so I can continue providing the best care possible for my clients.

As much as I encourage my clients to invest in their health, I believe it’s just as important to invest in my own education and well-being.

Can’t wait to share everything I learn when I get home! 🌿💛

🥜🍌 My go-to Funky Monkey Smoothie!

AD | Gifted: Paleo Valley gifted me products to try, but all opinions are 100% my own.

I only share products I genuinely use and enjoy, and their Chocolate Bone Broth Protein has officially earned a spot in my morning routine.

This smoothie is one of my favorite busy-day breakfasts because it’s quick, nourishing, and keeps me full for hours.

Approximate nutrition:
💪 ~49g Protein
🌱 15g+ Fiber
🥜 Healthy Fats
🥬 Greens

Ingredients:
🍌 1 banana
🥬 Baby spinach
🥜 Peanut butter
🍫 Paleo Valley Chocolate Bone Broth Protein
🍫 Garden of Life Chocolate Protein Powder
🌰 Beeya Phase 1 blend
🥛 Unsweetened chocolate almond milk
🧊 Ice

For me, the combination of protein, fiber, healthy fats, and micronutrients makes a huge difference in energy, cravings, and blood sugar balance throughout the day.

Perfect for busy mornings, travel days, or those days when life is life-ing and you need nutrition to be simple. 💜 #

Have you ever felt like crying… for absolutely no reason?

I’ve been thinking a lot about this lately because I realized I’ve been letting stress take over.

This morning I started meditating again and almost immediately felt like I needed to cry.

Not because anything terrible happened.

Because life has been… life-ing.

Work. Family. Finances. Health. Goals. Expectations.

All of it adds up.

I think many of us get so used to pushing through that we forget we’re carrying a lot.

So here’s your reminder today:

✨ Schedule time for yourself.
✨ Schedule rest.
✨ Schedule deep breathing.
✨ And if you need to… schedule a good cry.

Healing isn’t just about what we eat.

It’s also about how we live, how we cope, and how we support our nervous system through stressful seasons.

If you’ve been carrying a lot lately, you’re not alone. 💜

Hashimoto’s Tip of the Day:

Savory breakfasts > sweet breakfasts for me. 💜

I know they aren’t for everyone at first, and if you’ve spent years eating cereal, oatmeal, muffins, or pastries for breakfast, it can definitely take a mindset shift.

But one of the easiest ways to support blood sugar balance is to start your day with protein.

This morning’s breakfast was a Spicy Pork Brussels Bowl inspired by a recipe from . I topped mine with 2 large eggs because… protein. 😁

Protein + fiber + healthy fats = a breakfast that actually keeps me full and energized instead of searching for snacks an hour later.

As someone with Hashimoto’s, these simple foundational habits are often where I encourage people to start. 💜
