Sometimes the hardest part isn’t making the decision.
It’s figuring out which voice you’re listening to when you make it.
Your own?
Your family’s?
Everyone else’s?
Therapy can be a place to sort through that.

Sometimes indecision isn’t about not knowing yourself.
Sometimes you know exactly what you want. The problem is that you want two things that ask different things of you.
More money and more freedom.
A bigger career and more time at home.
Adventure and stability.
A relationship that feels familiar and a relationship that continues to grow.
That can make a decision harder because there isn’t always one obvious answer.
You may have to decide what matters most right now—and which tradeoffs you’re actually willing to make.
That’s different from not knowing what you want.

There are some decisions you can think about for weeks and still not know what you want.
Sometimes the pressure to figure it out becomes part of the problem.
You start looking for the answer that will make everyone happy, eliminate all risk, and guarantee you won’t regret your choice later.
That’s a lot to ask from one decision.
Sometimes you need more time. More information. More experience with yourself.
You don’t have to turn uncertainty into a problem that needs to be solved immediately.
You can be undecided while you figure out what matters to you.

A little introduction if you’re new here.

I’m Leah, a therapist and clinical supervisor licensed in Texas, Missouri, and New York. I’m also a Texas LPC-S and LMFT-S, providing supervision to LPC Associates and LMFT Associates across Texas.

Around here, we talk about what happens when you’ve done all the things you were supposed to do, built a life that looks successful, and start wondering whether it’s actually the life you want.

You’ll find conversations about:

* Career burnout and figuring out what you want next
* The pressure to be the capable one who has it all handled
* Changing your mind about a life you’ve worked hard to build
* Getting out of autopilot and making choices that feel more like your own

I also share about clinical work, supervision, and building a professional life with intention.

My approach is thoughtful, practical, and occasionally a little blunt. Because you can appreciate the life you’ve built and still want something different.

If any of that sounds familiar, you’re in the right place. Follow along.

You don't have to have a perfectly formed question before you bring something to supervision.

Sometimes you just know a session didn't go the way you expected. Maybe the client responded differently than you thought they would. Maybe you left wondering whether you handled something well. Maybe you can't quite put your finger on what's bothering you about the case.

Bring it anyway.

We can talk through what happened and figure out what you were actually getting stuck on.

You don't have to do all of that thinking before you walk into supervision. That's part of what you're there for.

I provide clinical supervision for Texas LPC Associates and LMFT Associates.

The career you chose made sense at the time.

The relationship you committed to made sense at the time.

The city you moved to made sense at the time.

The version of yourself you built around all of it made sense at the time.

Then you changed.

Your priorities changed. Your circumstances changed. You learned things you couldn't have known before.

Changing your mind doesn't automatically mean you made the wrong decision.

Sometimes it means you're making a different decision with more information.

You don't have to justify every change by proving that what came before was a mistake.

If you’re used to being the person who has a plan, uncertainty can feel like a problem you need to solve.

What if you don’t?

You don’t need to know exactly where your career, relationships, or life will be five years from now to make a meaningful change.

You can start with something much smaller:

What are you curious about?

What have you been wanting to try?

What would you explore if you didn’t have to know where it was going?

Sometimes the next chapter becomes clearer once you stop trying to write the entire book at once.

If you’re feeling stuck between what you’ve built and what you might want next, therapy can give you space to sort through it.

There's a difference between wanting to move forward in the life you've built and realizing that the direction itself may have changed. Figuring out which one you're experiencing can take some honesty, especially when your current life looks pretty good on paper.
You don't have to know exactly what you want next to start asking whether what you're doing now still makes sense for you.

Sometimes there's no obvious problem to point to. Your career is going well, your relationships are good, and you've accomplished things you once worked really hard for. Which can make it harder to explain why you're starting to wonder what else you want.

You don't need a crisis to take that question seriously.
