The best measure of a surgical result is not the side by side. It is what happens when you take the before photo away and look at the after on its own. If someone would never guess anything was done, that is the result we were after.

This patient came to us wanting full facial rejuvenation. Her words were that she looked tired and wanted a natural glow up. She had a previous upper blepharoplasty performed at another practice.

Examination showed skin changes consistent with advanced sun exposure and age related wrinkling. Her brow position was stable, but she had continued moderate upper eyelid drooping with excess nasal fat. Volume loss was significant throughout the midface, temples, and perioral area, and there was moderate jowling alongside visible platysmal banding in the neck.

Dr. Buckingham addressed this with a multi layered surgical plan under IV sedation. A revision upper eyelid lift cleared the remaining excess skin and nasal fat. A limited incision facelift tightened the jawline and neck. Fat transfer restored volume across the midface, temples, brow, and forehead. Full face CO2 laser resurfacing improved texture and radiance, and she received pre surgical Botox® to create a smoother surface for the laser to work on.

A note on the neck. What reads as heavy cervical laxity is largely skin, and she also has a somewhat low hyoid bone position, which sets a natural ceiling on how sharp the cervicomental angle can become. The neck is tight. It stays slightly obtuse because of anatomy, not because anything was left undone.

Recovery ran roughly three weeks, driven mainly by the fat transfer and laser. At her three month follow up she was very pleased with both her result and the recovery, and she will maintain it with consistent neuromodulator treatments going forward.

Aesthetic budgets are finite, and where you spend matters more than how much you spend. These five earn their keep because each one solves a specific problem rather than promising to solve everything.

Upper eyelid blepharoplasty is the smallest procedure on this list and often the one patients notice most. Removing redundant upper lid skin opens the eye and lifts the whole expression, and when it is done conservatively nobody can tell you had anything done. For the right candidate, the impact far exceeds the scale of the surgery.

Dr. Buckingham’s limited incision lower facelift is built for early to moderate lower facial aging, the stage where the jawline has softened but a full facelift would be more than the anatomy requires. It restores definition without overcorrecting, which is exactly what a well matched procedure should do.

HALO® TRIBRID™ uses three wavelengths in one session, letting us treat texture, pigment, and fine lines at different depths simultaneously. If you want the most out of a single appointment and a single recovery, this is the platform that delivers it.

Sculptra® works on a slower clock, stimulating your own collagen to rebuild structure and volume over months rather than adding it instantly. The gradual timeline is the feature, not the drawback. Nobody watches it happen.

PLATED® skincare is the one you use every day, and consistency is what makes it worth the cost. In office treatments create change. Your daily routine protects and extends it.

None of these is universally right. The treatment worth your money is the one that fits your anatomy, your goals, and your stage of aging, which is precisely what a consultation is designed to sort out.

Beautiful, natural results rarely come from a single product; they come from matching the right treatment to the right area of the face.

When this patient in her early 60s visited nurse injector René Thomas, she wanted to address fine lines and volume loss around her mouth. Instead of a one-size-fits-all approach, René layered a custom blend of hyaluronic acid treatments to restore structure, smooth fine lines, and subtle lip volume while keeping everything soft and natural in expression.

The secret? Each product has a unique job. By pairing deeper structural support with delicate surface hydration, the result is a refreshed, youthful look that still looks completely like her.

At Buckingham Center for Facial Plastic Surgery in Austin, this kind of thoughtful, zone-by-zone artistry is the standard René brings to every patient she treats. If you are curious what a customized filler plan could do for you, a consultation is the best place to start.

The HALO® TRIBRID™ has officially landed, and our books are open! Nicole Elek, RN, BSN breaks down why this next level laser deserves a spot on your treatment plan.

The HALO® TRIBRID™ fires at three separate wavelengths, and each one is assigned to a different depth of the skin. The erbium component works at the superficial layer where texture and surface irregularity live. A fractionating component reaches deep to address more established lines and stimulate collagen in the underlying structure. The third sits in the middle, at exactly the depth where pigment tends to settle. Fine lines, wrinkles, uneven pigment, rough texture. One treatment, three depths, all of it addressed together.

That full-spectrum is what makes this a good fit for most people who walk through our doors, whether you are working on prevention or looking for a wide-range of correction.

Skin type, pigment history, and what your skin has been through recently all factor into which components we can be safely used and at what intensity. That assessment at the consultation is the first step in the process.

We have been waiting on this technology, and we are happy to offer our patients the most elite laser treatment that just landed on the market.

The treatment is only half your result, your aftercare over the next week drives the rest. Laser energy creates controlled stimulation to trigger repair, leaving skin barrier-compromised, permeable, and highly reactive.

To protect this healing phase, avoid sun exposure, tanning, and heat (hot tubs, saunas, workouts) that trigger hyperpigmentation, inflammation, or redness. Skip harsh exfoliants, active ingredients, and waxing. Never pick or peel flaking skin, as this risks scarring. Instead, apply SPF daily, keep skin hydrated, and maintain a gentle routine.

Because intensity varies; from a light MOXI® to a deeper HALO® TRIBRID™, your provider’s specific instructions always take precedence. Proper aftercare transforms good results into great ones.

Our R.N., Laser Specialist wil review all pre and post laser instructions with you in your consultation and on your treatment day to ensure you are informed and feel properly equipped to optimize your healing and you results.

This patient came to Dr. Hudson Frey with a concern she had carried for years: the appearance of her lower face and neck. She had undergone neck liposuction at another practice in the past, but the result never satisfied her.

On examination, Dr. Frey saw why her previous results fell short. Liposuction only addresses adipose tissue. Tightening loose skin, repositioning underlying muscle and refining deeper structures like submandibular glands and platysmal neck bands is also necessary for optimal results. Real transformation comes from addressing every layer!

Dr. Frey designed a comprehensive plan to treat every layer. He performed a deep plane lower facelift with a neck lift and submandibular gland reduction, along with revision cervical liposuction to restore and define the contour of her neck, chin, and jawline.

Her results speak to Dr. Frey's extensive expertise and refined technique. Across every angle her beauty is highlighted, her jawline is defined, her neckline smooth, and her lower face is beautifully restored to a natural, youthful outcome she is thrilled with.

This is the difference a comprehensive, anatomy-first approach makes, especially in revision cases. At Buckingham Center for Facial Plastic Surgery in Austin, Dr. Frey brings that depth of training to even the most complex cases. His double-board certification offers our patients the best in training and precision. If you have been considering facial rejuvenation, or refining an earlier result, a consultation is the best place to start.

Shorter downtime, visible transformation: you may not need a full lower facelift with a necklift, just a targeted lower face refresh.

For patients who are beginning to notice changes in the lower face but are not in need of extensive neckline improvement, a limited incision lower facelift can be an ideal option. It is best suited to a particular set of concerns: early to moderate jowling, a loss of jawline definition, mild to moderate skin laxity, and a general softening of the lower face. Slight neckline improvement will be seen; however, a platysmaplasty (necklift) is not performed with this procedure, which allows for shorter downtime. Patients love it for its youthful, seamless results.

What makes it effective is the same principle behind any deep plane full lower facelift. Rather than simply tightening the skin, which pulls and eventually gives, the technique lifts and repositions the underlying structures to create a result that revitalizes a patient's appearance and lasts.

At Buckingham Center for Facial Plastic Surgery in Austin, the right procedure is always the one matched to your anatomy and your stage of aging, never a one-size-fits-all approach. That standard traces back to founder Dr. Edward Buckingham, a double board-certified surgeon and AAFPRS Fellowship Director. If you have been considering a facelift, a consultation is the best place to learn whether a limited incision approach is right for you.

The five minutes after your Sculptra® injection might be the most relaxing part of your day!

Sculptra® is poly-L-lactic acid collagen stimulator. It prompts your own tissue to rebuild collagen gradually over the weeks that follow treatment. The massage immediately after injection not only feels great, it is a necessary step and is how we make sure the product settles evenly across the treated plane instead of concentrating in one spot. The next essential step is for the patient to follow the 5-5-5 rule.

The Sculptra Touch 5-5-5 Rule: Gentle massage, 5 times a day, 5 minutes, 5 days.

Maximize your Sculptra results by giving your skin some extra love by gently massaging the treated areas with your fingertips. This simple, hands-on step ensures your collagen builds smoothly and evenly for the softest, most natural-looking glow.

With Sculptra® you will not only experience enhanced volume in just the right spots, but also see improved texture and radiance. Thicker, collagen-rich skin reflects light more evenly, tightens crepey texture, and improves overall elasticity and firmness.

Ready to boost your natural collagen for volume in just the right areas to enhance a youthful glow? Book a consultation to see if Sculptra® is the right for you

Upper eyelid blepharoplasty is one of the more approachable procedures we perform, and yields beautiful, yet natural results.

Nearly everyone has a natural crease in the upper lid, and that crease is where redundant skin begins to fold over. When enough skin accumulates, it encroaches on the tarsal show, the visible skin above the lashes, and the eye starts to read heavy. That heaviness is what most patients are describing when they say their eyes look tired.

A blepharoplasty is an in office procedure we perform in our Quad A certfied surgical suites. Our double-board certified facial plastic surgeons will use the existing crease as the incision line. Redundant skin is removed to open the lid. Some patients also have a small fat bulge near the nose, which we contour just enough to lay flat without hollowing the lid.

Recovery is straightforward. Sutures come out around a week, bruising is usually minimal, and most patients feel socially presentable a couple of days after suture removal. Full physical activity resumes around two weeks. Some swelling lingers beyond that, so what you see at three weeks is not your final result. We assess that at three months.

If you feel like you appear tired or heaviness in your upper lids has been on your mind, a consultation is the place to start.
