KBIC Health System is of the Keweenaw Bay Indian Community located at the Donald A. LaPointe Health &

Our Health Center staff provides comprehensive health services to approximately 2,800 tribal members and descendants living in Baraga, Houghton and Ontonagon Counties. With the recent addition of 5,584 sq feet to our facility originally constructed in 1997, we have a total of 18,830 sq. footage in the two floors that house our clinic rooms and offices

Welcome to KBIC Health System, Dr. David Harkema! 👁️💙

KBIC Health System is pleased to welcome Dr. David Harkema to our Community and our health system family! Dr. Harkema is helping us reestablish our Eye Clinic program and strengthen access to essential eye care services for our Community.

We sincerely appreciate your patience and understanding as we work toward greater stability and continuity of eye care in the Upper Peninsula, where optometry services remain limited. We are excited to move forward with Dr. Harkema’s support and expertise! Dr. Harkema will be seeing patients in our Eye Clinic, located on the second floor of the main KBIC Health System building, four days per week.

Please stay tuned as Kelsey begins reaching out to patients on our waitlist and coordinating ongoing referrals from your KBIC primary care providers (PCPs). If you have questions, please contact Kelsey in the Eye Clinic at 906-353-8700.

Breastfeeding has many benefits for mom and baby. If you bring baby into your bed to breastfeed, be sure to follow safe sleep practices when finished. Move baby to a safe sleep space EVERYTIME you breastfeed.
