Meet Dr. Leah Abbott, MD
Our facility Medical Director
Dr. Leah Abbott brings a deep commitment to compassionate, patient-centered care to her role as Medical Director. Raised in southeastern Michigan between Detroit and Toledo, she developed an early appreciation for the importance of community and service—values that continue to guide her work today.
Dr. Abbott earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology from Wayne State University in 2010 before pursuing her medical degree at St. George’s University in Grenada, graduating in 2018. She completed her Family Medicine Residency through the Marquette Family Medicine Residency Program in 2021 and went on to complete a fellowship in Hospice and Palliative Medicine at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit in 2022.
Board-certified in both Family Medicine and Hospice and Palliative Medicine, Dr. Abbott has a special passion for caring for older adults and supporting patients and families through every stage of life. Her professional interests include geriatrics, long-term care, hospice and palliative care, and home-based medicine. She is dedicated to building meaningful relationships with her patients and ensuring they receive personalized, dignified care that aligns with their goals and values.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Abbott enjoys life in Negaunee with her husband and their lively household of dogs, cats, and chickens. When she’s not caring for patients, you’ll likely find her exploring the outdoors, hiking local trails, kayaking, traveling, or curled up with a good book.
Dr. Abbott has been a great addition to our team and we’re so fortunate to have her!
