October is AAC Awareness Month!

Pre-symbolic communicators may not yet understand how their behaviors are interpreted by the world. We get to help them by taking their early communicative behaviors, describing what we see and helping them understand how we interpret those behaviors.

We often call this skill "verbal referencing," and a lot of learners need this kind of feedback when they are early in their journey to establish purposeful communication. Just yesterday, the LOMAH Podcast featured Erin Sheldon speaking about several topics - including verbal referencing. Check out that podcast here: https://www.lomah.org/podcastseason3/89

Does anyone have other good resources that describe "verbal referencing" for classroom staff? Share below!
