🍕 Good Food, Great Company & Valuable Life Skills! 🍕

Yesterday, our TAC crew enjoyed a delicious lunch at Mellow Mushroom! But it wasn't just about the pizza or burgers! 🍕❤️

Our participants put their independent living skills to work by practicing restaurant etiquette, communicating with waitstaff, ordering their own meals and drinks, reading their bills, paying for their meals, and learning about tipping!

These everyday experiences help build confidence, independence, and important social skills while having fun along the way!

At TAC, every outing is an opportunity to learn, grow, and celebrate our abilities! 💜🧡💛

💜🧡 **Different Abilities, Beautiful Friendships, and a Whole Lot of FUN!** 🧡💜

What a wonderful afternoon we had yesterday at the park and back at The Ability Center with two of our favorite young friends, Mac and Maddie! ❤️

There is something so incredibly special about watching children grow up understanding that everyone is different, and those differences are what make our world so beautiful, interesting, and FUN!

Mac and Maddie don't walk through our doors and see disabilities. **They see FRIENDS. They see ABILITIES. They see people they genuinely love spending time with.** 🥹💜

They show up with big smiles, excitement, and hugs, ready to greet each of their friends and jump right into whatever adventure the day brings! Whether it's swinging at the park, climbing on the jungle gym, walking, racing, coloring, creating art, working puzzles, or playing games, they simply want to be included and spend time together.

And you know what makes it even more beautiful? Our participants are just as excited to see them! The laughter, the friendships, and the genuine joy shared between them are absolutely priceless.

This is why teaching kindness, acceptance, and inclusion at an early age matters SO much. When children grow up recognizing that people have different abilities, different strengths, and different ways of experiencing the world, they learn that those differences aren't something to shy away from. They're something to embrace and celebrate!

Mac and Maddie remind us that inclusion doesn't have to be taught through big speeches or complicated lessons. Sometimes it's as simple as showing up, saying hello, and asking, "Do you want to play?" ❤️

We are so thankful for these two sweet friends and the joy they bring to TAC. They may not even realize it, but they're helping build the kind of world we all hope to see, one where everyone belongs, everyone is valued, and friendships have no barriers.

At The Ability Center, we focus on ABILITIES, not disabilities. And Mac and Maddie show us just how naturally that can begin with the next generation. 💜🧡

🔬🧪 It's WONDER WEDNESDAY at TAC! 🍄🍕

We're excited for a fun-filled day of discovery, exploration, and delicious food! Today, our TAC crew will be heading to the Women's World Science Museum for Wonder Wednesday, where we'll enjoy some hands-on learning and scientific fun! 🔍✨

Afterward, we'll head to Mellow Mushroom for a yummy lunch together! 🍕

💜 A few important reminders for today's outing:

🔬 Museum Admission: $5 per participant

🍕 Lunch at Mellow Mushroom: Please plan for approximately $15–$20 or more, depending on what your participant would like to order.

💵 Money: Please make sure participants have enough money available in their TAC account or bring it with them this morning.

We're looking forward to a wonderful Wednesday filled with curiosity, friendship, new experiences, and lots of smiles! 💜🧡💛

There's so much to be thankful for, and at The Ability Center, one of our greatest blessings is the wonderful people who make up our TAC family! 💜🧡💛

We are excited to invite our participants' parents, guardians, FHPs, family members, and friends to join us for a delicious Thanksgiving meal and an afternoon of food, friendship, and gratitude!

🍁💜🧡 IT'S A NEW WEEK AT THE ABILITY CENTER! 🧡💜🍁

We're kicking off November with a wonderful week of learning, friendship, fun, and appreciation!

Our theme this week is "Gratitude Starts with Me!" 🌟

Throughout the week, we'll be focusing on recognizing our own unique abilities, appreciating the strengths of others, and discovering all the little things we have to be thankful for! We'll incorporate gratitude into our art, life skills, communication, and daily activities.

🍂 HERE'S WHAT'S HAPPENING THIS WEEK!

🏊 Monday, November 2 – Wellness Center Fun!
Our Purple Thunder team will be heading to the Ohio County Family Wellness Center today! If your participant would like to swim, please make sure they bring a bathing suit, change of clothes, and towel!

🎨 Tuesday, November 3 – Gratitude & Creativity!
We'll spend the day exploring what we're thankful for through hands-on art projects, group discussions, and activities that encourage self-expression and appreciation for ourselves and others!

🔬 Wednesday, November 4 – WONDER WEDNESDAY!
We're heading to the Owensboro Science Museum for a day of discovery, exploration, and fun! Afterward, we'll enjoy lunch at Mellow Mushroom! 🍕🍄

💰 IMPORTANT: Participants attending Wednesday's outing need to bring $20 to cover museum admission and lunch at Mellow Mushroom!

💜 Thursday, November 5 – Kindness & Community!
We'll be exploring how even the smallest acts of kindness can make a BIG difference! We'll work on teamwork, friendship, and ways we can spread kindness throughout our community as we begin embracing our new GiveABILITY initiative!

🍕 Friday, November 6 – Pizza & Life Skills!
We'll wrap up our week with fun, practical life skills activities that promote independence, confidence, and teamwork!

Remember, Friday is also PIZZA DAY! Participants wishing to order pizza should bring money or have funds available in their TAC account.

Together We Make a Difference: A Month of Gratitude, Friendship, Community & Abilities!

November is going to be a wonderful month at TAC! We have so many exciting activities, outings, celebrations, and opportunities to give back to our community planned! This month, we will be focusing on the importance of gratitude, friendship, kindness, and recognizing the amazing abilities that make each of us unique! 🦁💜

🍂🍁 NOVEMBER OUTINGS & SPECIAL EVENTS:

🏊 November 2 & 16 – Ohio County Family Wellness Center
Participants should bring swimwear and a towel if they would like to swim! Please note which group is going based on the colors!

🔬 November 4 – Wonder Wednesday at the Owensboro Science Museum
Please send $20 to cover admission and lunch. We are looking forward to a fun day of exploring, discovering, and learning!

🎂 November 10 – Birthday Celebration!
We will celebrate our friends Mikey, Melissa, and Kelly!

🇺🇸 November 11 – Veterans Day Celebration at OCHS
A special opportunity to recognize and honor those who have served our country!

🍔 November 13 – Beef 'O' Brady's Outing
Participants will enjoy lunch and have the opportunity to play the slot machines! Please send at least $20 for lunch and activities. Participants are welcome to bring additional spending money if they wish.

🦃🍽️ NOVEMBER 19 – OUR 2ND ANNUAL FRIENDS & FAMILY THANKSGIVING LUNCH! 🍽️🦃

This is one of the events we are most excited about! We invite our participants' families, guardians, FHPs, and friends to join us at 12:00 PM for a delicious Thanksgiving meal and a wonderful time of fellowship!

We will be serving turkey, ham, mashed potatoes and gravy, stuffing, green beans, corn, rolls, and desserts!

Throughout the month, our participants will also be using their creativity, teamwork, and planning skills to help prepare for this special celebration. We can't wait to share a meal and make memories with the people who mean so much to our TAC family! 💜

💜🧡 INTRODUCING GiveABILITY! 🧡💜

Small Acts. BIG Impact.

We are excited to introduce our new community kindness initiative, GiveABILITY!

Instead of our past traditional weekly group cook, our participants will be taking an active role in planning and carrying out acts of kindness throughout our community. We want to show that everyone has something valuable to give and that even the smallest act of kindness can make a BIG difference!

We are welcoming monthly sponsors who would like to help support this mission. If you are interested in being part of GiveABILITY, please reach out to TAC!

📌 IMPORTANT REMINDERS:

🍕 Fridays are pizza days! Participants may purchase pizza with money they bring or funds in their TAC account.

🥤 Our participant-operated concession stand has snacks and drinks available for purchase, ranging from $0.25 to $1.50.

🥪 Unless otherwise noted, please send lunch, snacks, and drinks each day.

📅 TAC WILL BE CLOSED NOVEMBER 25–27 for the Thanksgiving holiday.

🎃🍬 TAC Spreading Smiles on the Trail! 👻🧡

The Halloween fun didn't stop at our Spooktacular party! Several of our TAC staff and participants had a wonderful time passing out treats to all the little ghosts, goblins, princesses, and superheroes at Treats on the Trail today! 🍭🎃

We loved seeing all the creative costumes, smiling faces, and excitement from the kiddos! What a fun way to give back to our community, spread a little Halloween happiness, and make some sweet memories along the way! 💜🧡💛

🎃👻 **A SPOOKTACULAR DAY AT TAC!** 🧡💜

What a BOO-tiful day of Halloween fun at The Ability Center! 🎃

Our TAC crew had an absolute BLAST celebrating with spooky games, delicious food, lots of laughter, and a little Halloween mystery! 🕷️🦇

One of the biggest hits was our **spooky sensory challenge**, where participants had to guess what creepy surprises they were touching WITHOUT being able to see them! 😱 Some were brave, some were hesitant, and the reactions were PRICELESS! 😂

From fun games and sensory exploration to yummy treats and making memories with friends, our day was packed with excitement from beginning to end!

And while we were having all this fun, we were also building confidence, practicing teamwork, exploring our senses, making choices, and strengthening social skills. That's what TAC is all about! 💜🧡

**A little spooky, a whole lot of silly, and TONS of TAC fun!** 🎃👻

🎃👻 TOMORROW IS TAC'S ULTIMATE HALLOWEEN SPOOKTACULAR! Please READ ALL! 🧡💜💛

The excitement is brewing at The Ability Center, and we can hardly wait for tomorrow!

🍕 LUNCH & SNACK REMINDER: Participants do NOT need to bring lunch or snack tomorrow! We've got plenty of spooky goodies planned! They can still choose to order pizza if they choose to and have money though.

We've got a SPOOKTACULAR day ahead with creepy creations, delicious Halloween treats, carnival games, spooky challenges, music, laughter, and plenty of Halloween surprises!

🎭 COSTUMES: Everyone is encouraged to wear their Halloween costume if they have one! We can't wait to see everyone's creativity!

🍬 WANT TO CONTRIBUTE? If any of our families or friends would like to bring cupcakes, desserts, candy bags, or other Halloween goodies, we would absolutely love it! We just ask that you bring enough for at least 12 participants and have everything dropped off before 9:00 a.m. tomorrow.

🎃 TREATS ON THE TRAIL: For participants who would like to keep the Halloween fun going, we will be walking over to Beaver Dam Park to participate in Treats on the Trail beginning at 3:30 p.m. Participants are welcome to stay after our normal program hours to join in the fun!

IMPORTANT: Anyone staying for Treats on the Trail MUST be picked up from Beaver Dam Park no later than 5:30 p.m.

It's going to be a day full of spooky fun, friendship, and unforgettable memories!
