πŸ–€ CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS β€” HELP US BUILD COMMUNITY IN BEAVER COUNTY πŸ–€

NAMI Beaver County is looking for creative, compassionate people who want to help us create more ways for adults in our community to connect, make friends, create, decompress and just have somewhere to belong.

We’re especially looking for volunteers interested in helping with our new low-pressure social and creative nights β€” welcoming spaces designed with mental health and neurodivergent adults in mind.

You don't have to be a therapist. You don't have to be an expert. And you definitely don't have to be an extrovert.

We need people who might enjoy helping with things like:

β˜• Cozy tea & conversation nights
🎨 Art, collage & craft tables
πŸ“š Silent reading / book nights
🎲 Board games & tabletop games
🧠 Neurodivergent social nights
🎧 Music & playlist nights
πŸ–€ Goth / alternative community nights
✍️ Journaling & creative writing
🧢 Bring-your-own-project craft circles
🧩 Puzzles, coloring & fidget tables
🎬 Movie & horror nights
🌿 Plant swaps & seasonal activities
πŸ‘» Spooky-season events
πŸ’¬ Conversation cards & low-pressure mixers
πŸͺ‘ Setting up a cozy, sensory-considerate space
πŸ“Έ Helping with flyers, social media & event promotion

Maybe you have an activity you'd love to teach or a strange little hobby you've been waiting for an excuse to share. Tell us.

We're not trying to create another place where people have to perform, network or pretend they're doing fine.

We want to create a place where people can walk through the door and think:

β€œOh. I can be myself here.”

Volunteers can help occasionally, regularly, behind the scenes, or by hosting an activity.

We want to hear from you. πŸ–€

Knowing what to look for can help save a life.

Withdrawing from loved ones, changes in sleep, increased aggression, reckless behavior, or extreme mood swings can be warning signs that someone may be struggling or thinking about su***de.

Recognize the signs. Reach out. Listen without judgment. Remind them they’re not alone. πŸ’œ

Talking about su***de isn’t harmful. Silence is.

Start a conversation. Be the difference. Find more resources at nami.org/SPM.

This week marks the beginning of Su***de Prevention Month. This September, join us in starting the conversation.

Silence should never be the response to someone's pain. At NAMI, we know that one conversation can save a life. No matter what is going on, help is available. No one has to face this alone.

We'll be sharing resources and spreading awareness about su***de prevention all month long. Learn more at nami.org/SPM.

Dolly Parton was so important to so many people.

A prolific songwriter, philanthropist, and mental health advocate, she gave so much of herself to the world.

We’re glad to live in the world she helped shape: one of warmth, resilience, and acceptance. Her legacy lives on in the grace and understanding we show each other every day. πŸ¦‹πŸ’™
