ARH recognized nationally for excellence in cardiovascular care

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Appalachian Regional Healthcare is proud to announce each of its 14 hospitals has been honored with American Heart Association Get With The Guidelines™ awards.
The annual recognition represents hospitals’ commitment to following up-to-date, research-based guidelines for the treatment of stroke, resulting in shorter recovery times, fewer readmissions and more lives saved.

ARH Neurology Service Line Coordinator Rachel Jenkins said the awards serve as a signal that residents in the communities served by ARH can feel confident in knowing they can science-backed, guideline-directed care without leaving their own communities.

“The recognition of all 14 ARH hospitals through the Get With The Guidelines Stroke program is a significant achievement,” she said. “It is especially meaningful because it shows that people living in rural Kentucky and West Virginia can receive nationally recognized, evidence-based stroke care close to home.”

🎒✨ Back-to-School Wellness for Raleigh County Schools! ✨🎒
We had a great time helping students kick off the new school year with a focus on health and wellness!
🪥 Community Health & Impact Manager Kelly Elkins talked with students about the importance of brushing their teeth and taking care of their oral health. A healthy smile is an important part of a healthy life!
💚 Kelly was also joined by Ms. Frost at the SADD/Youth Coalition table, where they connected with students about SADD, mental health, bullying prevention, and healthy relationships.
Thank you to Raleigh County Schools for creating opportunities to help students start the school year informed, empowered, and ready to succeed! 📚💪

Repairs on the final portion of the HVAC damaged during Tuesday’s storms have been completed, and we’re excited to report that air conditioning in every area of Beckley ARH Hospital is back up and running.

It has been a difficult week, but we are proud of and grateful for every member of our dedicated staff who, despite less-than-ideal conditions at times, worked to ensure every person who walked through our doors received the healthcare they both needed and deserved. We are thankful to not only them, but to our community partners who assisted us in processing and procuring lab results.

And last, but far from least, we are grateful to you, our community members, for your patience, support and trust.

An Update on our HVAC Repairs

We are happy to report that repairs on two of the three areas of the HVAC system damaged by a lightning strike during Tuesday’s storms were completed Friday afternoon, restoring air conditioning to several areas of Beckley ARH Hospital.

The third replacement part needed to complete the work is in transit and could arrive as early as today. When we receive the part, our facilities staff as well as the team contracted to assist with HVAC repairs will immediately begin working to get the final portion of the system back up and running.

We will continue to update you as we work to resolve the problem. Again, we thank you for your patience and for your trust as our dedicated staff works to provide high-quality healthcare.

A lightning strike during the severe thunderstorms that passed through the region Tuesday damaged portions of the HVAC system at Beckley ARH Hospital.

As we wait for replacement parts – also delayed by storms but expected to arrive this week – we have brought in fans and portable cooling units. Still, patients and visitors may notice the affected areas of the hospital are warmer than others.

Additionally, high temperatures in our laboratory have forced us to send some specimens to community partners for analysis, resulting in delayed readings.

Despite the challenges, we continue to provide the full spectrum of services, as our staff works diligently to ensure each and every patient receives the highest level of care.

We thank you for your patience and, most importantly, for your trust as you allow us to care for you and for the people you love.

ARH NEWS RELEASE – ARH Diabetes Educator Receives National ADCES Advancing the Vision Award

Lexington, KY – Ashley Webb, RN, LDE, System Diabetes Education Coordinator for Appalachian Regional Healthcare (ARH), has been selected as the recipient of the 2026 Advancing the Vision Award from the Association of Diabetes Care & Education Specialists (ADCES), one of the nation’s highest honors recognizing innovative leadership in diabetes care and education.

The award recognizes individuals and programs that are expanding access to diabetes care while advancing the future of diabetes education through innovation, collaboration, and community impact.

Webb received the national award during the ADCES Annual Conference held in Columbus, Ohio, where diabetes care and education professionals from across the United States gathered to share best practices and celebrate excellence in the field.

For Webb, the recognition represents something much larger than an individual achievement.

“This award belongs to so many people,” Webb said. “It belongs to every participant who walked through the doors of a Diabetes Connection meeting, every healthcare provider who believed in referring patients, and every person living with diabetes who trusted us enough to become part of their journey.”
