The Four Pillars of Plastic Surgery Recovery
Patients often ask what they can do to get the best possible result after surgery.
While every procedure is different, most successful recoveries come back to four simple things:
💧 Water
Your body needs hydration to support circulation, healing, and recovery. Dehydration can leave you feeling tired, sluggish, and make the recovery process harder than it needs to be.
🥩 Protein
Surgery creates a healing response, and healing requires building blocks. Protein helps your body repair tissues, support incisions, and recover from the procedure. When in doubt, prioritize protein over empty calories.
😴 Rest
Recovery is not the time to “push through it.” Your body does its best healing while you rest. Sleep is one of the most powerful recovery tools available—and it’s free.
🚶 Walking
Movement matters. Early, gentle walking promotes circulation, reduces stiffness, helps prevent complications, and can even improve how you feel mentally during recovery. Don’t train for a marathon—just keep moving as instructed by your surgeon.
Plastic surgery results aren’t created only in the operating room. They are also shaped by the choices patients make during recovery.
The surgery may be a single day, but healing is a process. Respect the process, and your body will thank you.
