The Four Pillars of Plastic Surgery Recovery

Patients often ask what they can do to get the best possible result after surgery.

While every procedure is different, most successful recoveries come back to four simple things:

💧 Water
Your body needs hydration to support circulation, healing, and recovery. Dehydration can leave you feeling tired, sluggish, and make the recovery process harder than it needs to be.

🥩 Protein
Surgery creates a healing response, and healing requires building blocks. Protein helps your body repair tissues, support incisions, and recover from the procedure. When in doubt, prioritize protein over empty calories.

😴 Rest
Recovery is not the time to “push through it.” Your body does its best healing while you rest. Sleep is one of the most powerful recovery tools available—and it’s free.

🚶 Walking
Movement matters. Early, gentle walking promotes circulation, reduces stiffness, helps prevent complications, and can even improve how you feel mentally during recovery. Don’t train for a marathon—just keep moving as instructed by your surgeon.

Plastic surgery results aren’t created only in the operating room. They are also shaped by the choices patients make during recovery.

The surgery may be a single day, but healing is a process. Respect the process, and your body will thank you.

Compression garments are one of the unsung heroes of plastic surgery recovery.

After many body contouring procedures, a properly fitted compression garment can help reduce swelling, support healing tissues, improve comfort, and assist your body as it adapts to its new contours.

At Pacific Sound Plastic Surgery, we frequently recommend high-quality compression garments, including Isavela®, as part of a comprehensive recovery plan. While surgery creates the change, recovery is where the results take shape.

Remember: hydration, protein, walking, rest, and consistent use of your compression garment all play important roles in the healing process.

🌲☀️ Recharge Mode: Activated ☀️🌲

Even surgeons need time to recharge.

One of the best parts of living and working in the Pacific Northwest is having places like Coal Creek in Issaquah right in our backyard. Fresh air, towering trees, quiet trails, and a chance to step away from the screens, schedules, and operating rooms for a little while.

Taking care of others starts with taking care of yourself. Whether it’s a walk in the woods, time with family, exercise, or simply enjoying the outdoors, finding ways to recharge helps us return with energy, focus, and gratitude.

Today’s reminder: get outside, move your body, and appreciate the beauty around you.

What’s your favorite place to recharge in the Seattle area?

Brachioplasty, or an arm lift, is about more than appearance—it’s about confidence in your own skin.

After significant weight loss, aging, or changes in skin elasticity, excess tissue along the upper arms can make patients feel uncomfortable in short sleeves, athletic wear, or swimwear. An arm lift removes excess skin and reshapes the arm to create a smoother, more proportional contour.

A few things to know:
• Scars are part of the tradeoff—and we discuss them openly.
• Results improve as swelling resolves over several months.
• The goal is not perfection, but improved shape, proportion, and confidence.
• For the right patient, brachioplasty can be one of the most rewarding body contouring procedures we perform.

At Pacific Sound Plastic Surgery, we believe informed patients make the best decisions. Understanding both the benefits and limitations of surgery is the key to a great outcome.

Rolling Into Father’s Day Weekend…

There’s no better way to start Father’s Day weekend than with every patient safely discharged, comfortable at home, and on the road to recovery.

Plastic surgery may happen in the operating room, but the real success is seeing patients recover well, heal safely, and begin enjoying the results they’ve worked toward.

As we head into the weekend, we’re grateful for the trust our patients place in us and proud of the team effort that makes great outcomes possible.

Now it’s time to spend some well-earned time with family and celebrate the dads, grandfathers, and father figures who make a difference every day.

Happy Father’s Day weekend from Pacific Sound Plastic Surgery!

“What Size Implant Should I Get?”

One of the most common questions in breast augmentation isn’t about the surgery—it’s about the implant size.

The reality is that there is no “right” size. There is only the size that best matches your anatomy and goals.

A few things to keep in mind:

🔹 Implant size is measured in cubic centimeters (cc’s), not bra cup sizes.

🔹 A “300 cc implant” can look dramatically different on two different patients depending on their height, weight, chest width, breast tissue, and skin characteristics.

🔹 Bigger isn’t always better. The goal is to find an implant that creates balance, proportion, and a result that fits your body.

🔹 The largest implant that fits is not necessarily the best implant. Long-term outcomes matter just as much as the immediate appearance.

🔹 During consultation, we use measurements, anatomy, and implant sizing tools to help patients visualize what different options may look like.

The best breast augmentation isn’t about choosing a number—it’s about choosing a result.

Every patient is unique, and the ideal implant is the one that helps achieve your goals while respecting your anatomy.

🎵 “The waiting is the hardest part…” — Tom Petty 🎵

One of the most common questions after breast augmentation is:

“Why don’t my implants look like the final result yet?”

The answer is something plastic surgeons call “drop and fluff.”

Immediately after surgery, implants often sit high on the chest because the tissues are tight and the muscles and skin have not yet relaxed. Over time:

⬇️ The implants drop into a more natural position as the lower pole of the breast expands.

🌸 The breasts then fluff, becoming softer, rounder, and more natural in shape.

This process is a normal function of tissue expansion and healing, not a sign that something is wrong.

⏳ Most patients notice significant changes over the first 6–12 weeks, but the final result may take 3–6 months (and sometimes longer) to fully develop.

Knowing what to expect is important because the early postoperative appearance can be stressful if you aren’t prepared for it. Plastic surgery is often a journey of healing, not an overnight transformation.

As Tom Petty famously sang, “The waiting is the hardest part.” But in breast augmentation, patience is often rewarded with a softer, more natural, and more beautiful result.

Serving More Than Barbecue. Serving Community.

This weekend, the smokers were running early and the fire stayed hot as we prepared barbecue for more than 200 people at church.

At Holy Pit BBQ, we love great food, but what really matters is bringing people together. There’s something special about sharing a meal with friends, family, teammates, neighbors, and fellow church members. Good barbecue has a way of turning a gathering into a community.

Hours of preparation, wood-fired smoke, brisket, pork, and plenty of sides—all worth it when you see people connecting around the table.

Thank you to everyone who helped make it happen. We’re grateful to be part of a community that believes in serving others.

Whether it’s a church event, youth sports banquet, fundraiser, family reunion, or neighborhood gathering, Holy Pit BBQ is honored to help feed the crowd.

🔥 Low and slow.
🙏 Community first.
🍖 Authentic Texas-style barbecue.

🚨 Plastic Surgeon Body Transformation Challenge 🚨

Everyone on social media is giving up sugar, carbs, alcohol, or processed foods.

Meanwhile, Dr. Day is attempting something far more dangerous:

Giving up Diet Coke and caffeine.

Week 1:
☕ Mild headache
☕ Questioning life choices
☕ Staring blankly at the OR schedule

Week 2:
☕ Can hear colors
☕ Considers napping between emails
☕ Starts asking patients if they have any caffeine

Week 3:
☕ Reports of improved hydration
☕ Blood type changes from Diet Coke to water
☕ Still not convinced this was a good idea

They say real transformation requires sacrifice. Plastic surgeons know that better than anyone.

But some sacrifices are harder than others.

Pray for Dr. Day. 😂

What would be harder for you to give up: coffee, Diet Coke, or your phone?
