✨ Clinician Spotlight: Dr. Joy Clark ✨

Meet Dr. Joy Clark, our Clinical Neuropsychologist. Dr. Clark specializes in comprehensive neuropsychological evaluations that help children, adolescents, and adults better understand their unique strengths and challenges. Her thoughtful, compassionate approach helps families gain clarity and direction when navigating concerns related to learning, attention, executive functioning, autism, anxiety, and other developmental or psychological differences.

Dr. Clark is passionate about providing meaningful insights that empower clients, parents, and educators to make informed decisions and access the support they need to thrive.

📚 **Fun Fact:** When she's not working with clients, Dr. Clark is an avid reader who always has a book nearby. Whether she's diving into a new novel or exploring the latest research, her love of learning extends far beyond the office!

We are grateful for the expertise, warmth, and dedication she brings to our practice every day. If you've worked with Dr. Clark, we'd love for you to help us celebrate her in the comments below! 💙

Therapy can get awkward REAL fast 😂🫠

Therapist: “Where do you feel that in your body?”
Client: “That sounds like a YOU problem and also none of your business.” 😅💀

Sometimes the body holds what the mind tries to avoid. The discomfort? That’s often where the work begins. 👀✨

Trauma therapy isn’t always neat, polished, or comfortable, but learning to safely notice what’s happening internally can be incredibly powerful. 🧠💛

Mental Health Awareness Month Horror Movies 💀

• Turning every emotion into a diagnosis — not every bad day, distraction, or uncomfortable feeling is a disorder. Social media has blurred the line between awareness and self-diagnosis, and therapy language is meant to create understanding, not labels for every human experience (i.e. selfishness-narcissitic, arguing-gaslighting)

• Calling isolation “protecting your peace” — boundaries matter (A LOT!), but chronic withdrawal can fuel depression, anxiety, and loneliness. Healing usually happens in safe connection, not complete disconnection.

• Believing healing means never feeling anxious, triggered, insecure, or doubtful again — healing is not becoming emotionless. It’s learning how to move through hard emotions with more awareness, regulation, and self-compassion. The work people do in therapy every week matters, even when feelings still show up.

• “Good vibes only” culture — constantly avoiding difficult emotions doesn’t create wellness. It creates emotional avoidance and loneliness. Humans are meant to experience the full range of emotions, not just the comfortable ones. Shutting people out when they can't show up with "good vibes" all the time increases shame.

• Responding to a struggling friend with “did you talk to your therapist about that?” — Therapy is important, but therapists should not be someone’s only source of support. Sometimes people don’t need solutions. They need connection, presence, and someone willing to sit with them in hard moments.

Almost 300 nursing students… in ONE day 🤍

Maria had the honor of serving alongside 5nptexas and Operation Get Out to support these students during their clinical day ✨

Through Acudetox, they experienced something most people don’t realize they’re missing:
👉 the ability to go from chaos ➡️ calm

Not by doing more.
Not by pushing through.
But by letting their nervous systems settle…
using their own bodies and the support of nature 🌿

This is what we don’t talk about enough:

You cannot keep showing up for others
if your body never gets a chance to come out of survival mode.

And these future nurses? They got to feel what regulation actually feels like 💛

Save this as a reminder: calm isn’t something you earn… it’s something your body can return to with the right support 🤍
