🩸 TODAY IS PENNSYLVANIA BLOOD DONATION DAY! 🩸

Governor Josh Shapiro has proclaimed September 4, 2026, as Blood Donation Day in Pennsylvania; an important reminder that saving lives begins right here in our communities.

Following the busy summer months, blood inventories remain dangerously low. Local patients cannot wait for supplies to recover. They need blood for emergencies, surgeries, cancer treatments and other critical care, and they need generous donors to step forward now.

This National Blood Donation Week, show the strength and compassion of Pennsylvania by rolling up your sleeve with Miller-Keystone Blood Center. Your donation stays local, supports our regional hospitals and could help save up to three lives.

This week, Lester J. reached an extraordinary milestone at the MKBC Reading Donor Center: 75 gallons donated!

A milestone like this is far more than a number. It's decades of showing up, hundreds of donations and countless hours devoted to helping people Lester will most likely never meet. It takes remarkable dedication, compassion and selflessness to reach this level, and because Lester continued to roll up his sleeve year after year, countless patients received another chance to heal, recover and spend time with the people they care about.

This week, MKBC was proud to collaborate with Wreaths Across America for a fantastic celebration honoring our nation’s veterans and the powerful mission to Remember, Honor, Teach.

It was a meaningful day filled with gratitude, fellowship, and community spirit as we came together to recognize the service and sacrifice of those who have given so much for our country.

A special thank-you to Food Disciples for showing up with their food truck and serving delicious food for everyone to enjoy. Your generosity helped make the day even more special.

In honor of Saint Januarius, the patron saint of blood banks, Miller-Keystone Blood Center is once again joining with the Roman Catholic Diocese of Allentown for a diocese-wide blood donation campaign.

From September 19th, the Feast Day of Saint Januarius, through December 16th, parishioners are invited to roll up their sleeves and turn their faith into action by giving a gift that can mean everything to a patient in need.

🎗️ SEPTEMBER IS PEDIATRIC CANCER AWARENESS MONTH 🎗️

For children fighting cancer, blood donation is a critical, life-saving component of treatment, as the vast majority of children undergoing cancer therapy will require blood or platelet transfusions.

Leukemia and lymphoma can prevent the bone marrow from producing healthy blood cells. Cancer treatments may destroy healthy blood-producing cells along with cancer cells. Surgeries to remove tumors can also result in significant blood loss.

Your donation can help restore what cancer and its treatments take away. It can give a child the strength to continue treatment, recover from surgery and keep fighting for a healthier future.

These children and their families need more than medical care. They need compassion, encouragement and a community standing beside them. Organizations like Pediatric Cancer Foundation of the Lehigh Valley, Inc. provide invaluable support to local families navigating the unimaginable challenges of pediatric cancer. Miller-Keystone Blood Center is incredibly proud to collaborate with PCFLV and support our shared commitment to these brave children and their loved ones.
