Not all heroes wear capes. Some are just 5 years old!

When Chase Mifsud’s grandfather, Anthony, experienced a medical emergency, Chase stepped up in a big way. While waiting for EMS, he took his grandfather’s temperature, held his hand, rubbed his back and offered comfort when he needed it most.

To recognize his courage and compassion, St. Joseph Hospital named Chase an honorary doctor for the day!

But Chase’s story is more than a heartwarming moment. It’s an important reminder that children are never too young to learn what to do in an emergency.

Family Day 2026 at the South Farmingdale Fire Department!
It was a busy day at our Teddy Bear Clinic, where we treated more than 150 very important stuffed patients, while also providing flu shots to members of our community. A fun and festive day made even better by our incredible employees and volunteers who always show up for the communities we serve. Thank you to the South Farmingdale Fire Department for having us!
