In therapy, we ask that you show up AS YOU ARE. We donât need the perfect version of yourself, but instead, just the willingness to show up. The same goes for art therapy or any intervention suggested. Itâs not about how perfect or creative the end product is, but it is about the journey and the process.
Therapists arenât asking you to fill out worksheets, draw a picture, or read a certain book because they want to look at it. No, itâs to gauge how the client participates in the activity, how they react, and what the process is like. There is no bad way to do therapy, so just take the first step to show up.
