❤️🩹 What is Trauma?
Trauma is the emotional, psychological, and physical response to an experience that feels overwhelming or threatening. Trauma isn't defined by the event itself, it's defined by how the experience affects a person.
Trauma can result from:
• Abuse or neglect
• Accidents or injuries
• Loss of a loved one
• Domestic violence
• Medical experiences
• Natural disasters
• Witnessing violence or other distressing events
Trauma can affect how we think, feel, relate to others, and respond to stress. It may show up as anxiety, irritability, difficulty concentrating, sleep problems, emotional overwhelm, or feeling disconnected from ourselves and others.
The good news: healing is possible. With support, people can learn to understand their responses, build resilience, and move forward in meaningful ways.
If you or your child are struggling with the effects of trauma, we're here to help.
