🔔 When the Bell Rings, Breathe
Bells have long invited people to pause. What if our school bells could become an invitation to do the same?
Instead of the bell only signaling, “Time to hurry to the next thing,” we can teach children to hear it as a moment to pause, breathe, and begin again.
When the bell rings...
INHALE — Begin Again
Let your inhale be an invitation to start again.
A new class. A new moment. A fresh beginning.
EXHALE — Let It Go
As you breathe out, notice what your body might be holding.
Soften your shoulders.
Uncurl your fingers.
Let go of anything feeling heavy in your heart.
Then move into what comes next.
No extra lesson. No special equipment. No interruption to the school day. The reminder is already built into the day.
With practice, the bell itself can become the cue:
🔔 Bell. Breathe. Begin Again.
And there’s something powerful about imagining a whole school doing this together—teachers, staff, and students taking one intentional breath before moving into the next moment.
Inhale — an invitation to begin again.
Exhale — an invitation to let go.
It starts with you. It ripples out.
